Have you felt unsatisfied when the book you read or the movie you watched had a sad ending?

I am a person who loves to read books and to watch movies with happy endings. It is because I consider them as entertainments and a form of escape to my mundane or sad life sometimes. On the other hand, reading a book or watching a movie with sad endings is not bad at all. It just shows us the other side of life that tells us that it is not always a bed of roses. What is your opinion about this?

I prefer to have happy endings but variety is the spice of life so sad endings every now and then changes things up a bit.

Yes, I can relate on that. I haven't watched a movie that followed the book anyway.

Actually I will not find it unsatisfied since the ending is sad. On the contrary, usually it will be much more impressive for me. I don't mind it is the sad ending. Of course happy ending will be much more cheerful.

True! I love something that will always cheer me up and inspire me. But then, even sad endings can also inspire us.

It is true that a bad ending shows us the other side of life, but this is a side we already know even too well. I prefer a good ending.

I can feel you but sometimes we just accept that not all stories have happy endings.

I don't mind whether the ending is happy or sad as long as it's a satisfactory ending with no loose ends.

I guess I prefer happy endings too but if it's sad I keep saying to myself 'It's only a book' or 'It's only a movie' so I don't get too unhappy about it.

That is why we buy the ticket because we want to be entertain and not just crying and thinking what had happen after we watch or rad the book.
