No: A Hard Word to Say

I try, although not always successfully, to treat Sunday as a day of rest. That’s my goal for today. I need a day off. When I was ‘working’ it was easier to set aside Sundays, at least part of it, to rest. It’s harder now. Without a clear cut schedule, it seems like I’m working all the time.
I have a schedule and try to stick to it, but now that I’m ‘not working’ others assume I have time to do this or do that. I’ve never been good about saying no. Friends and family know that and occasionally take advantage of that fact. Mostly I don’t mind but every now and then I tip over into overload. I’m fast reaching that point.
I need to find a two-year old and see if they’ll teach me how to say no.

It's when I get asked to do this or that for an organization or for church that I have a hard time saying no.

Yeah ... sounds like you need to claim some of your time back..., and say no more often..., people will eventually get the idea that you need time for yourself....

@BettyB yes, it's something I had to learn to do too, ... it's not easy..., but it's worth doing, practice it on small things..., people actually respect you more, and value You more, when you say no sometimes...

When you're getting tired or really feeling the need to rest, then come clean about how you just cannot manage it. Sugar coating it helps. Like you really want to be with them, but your schedule and your tiredness is in the way.1 person likes this

@BettyB yeah that is normal. But some time to self is necessary, and then you get back with them as soon as you feel like it

Hope today was a quiet and relaxing day for you. You deserve it. I have a huge problem with saying no also. I end up doing things I don't want to just because no doesn't seem to be in my vocabulary.

@BettyB I feel the same way but I would never say anything, I do admire the people who can no and think nothing more of it.

I will always feel guilty about it. That's just my nature.

I always say no, or often do. It gives me my own self peace and quiet.

I'm taking that day, at least part of it, for myself. I'll go crazy if I don't.
