Are You Ready For Some Football

Today is the season opener for American Football. It started with a message from President Obama remembering this day, 15 years ago when Terrorists attacked the US by taking out the Twin Towers with two planes and a hit on the Pentagon, and a plane that crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
On the field for the Jacksonville Jaguars/Green Bay Packers game the field size flag was flanked on all sides by military, police, and firefighters, as well as players from both teams who made that flag wave as the Star Spangled Banner was played not sung.
And the game was under way. And what a game it was! Well played by both sides in over 100 degree heat on the field. It came down to the wire, but Green Bay held onto their lead they held since the first tie of the game early in the first quarter to win 27-23.
Jacksonville played a very good game bringing pressure against the Pack throughout the game.
How did your team match up today? Did you win or lose? Or are you still to play or playing as I write this?
Thanks for reading.

If I recall correctly The Cowboy also faced The New York Giants on 9/11 this year. Giants won, not too sure to feel about that either. As a casual football fan, I kinda expectthe Cowboys to lose, but the Giants winning on the very day New York suffered might've fet like a triumph to them in some fashion, so I suppose I can be happy about that. Still compared to last season, the Cowboys might not have a starting winning streak.

I don't remember what day 9/11 was on, but it was the first Sunday following and the first game of the year and all games were postponed that week I think. Though I could be wrong about that. We ended up playing the Giants the last game of the season that year. There are just some things you don't forget.
I think a lot of people were screaming the same as you.

@just4him 9/11 was on a Sunday this year and my mom DVR'd the Giants playing the Cowboys that morning. I remember it too, because when I saw the team "Newyork Giants," I was confused because as far as I knew Newyork only had one football team and that was the jets. This is how I learned I felt I should've known as far back as when I was growing up in the 90s that Newyork has two football teams...-_- Mind you, I wanted to be a pro-football player when I was a kid, you' think I would've known that. But in the process I saw that the score was the Cowboys had nine points with Giants having like a seven point lead, which garnered the reaction of:"Oh, the Cowboys are looking... What a shock...?"(All sarcasm implied...)
As for those screaming at the Panther's quaterback like I was, they were probably from Carolina, though I remember a former co-worker who was apparently a Panthers fan... Man, this year's Superbowl must've been a mess for him... xD

@just4him They were supposed to play Greenbay on that day? Odd... But it's a good thing the Giannts won, but the Cowboys are one of the teams I tend to root for next to the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.(I was born and spent eight years of my childhood in Oklahoma...) But with the kind of seasons the Cowboys have been having in the past, I don't expect them to win a lot of games every season. And after this last Superbowl, I get nervous for The Panthers playing, because I've developed this reaction to whenever the offense screws up I end up screaming:"NEEEEEEEEW-TOOOOOOOON!!!!!" So I'm trying to avoid that. :p

Glad to hear Green Bay won. I used to watch football when I was going with a man that was really into it. Also watching boxing. Not so anymore. Hope the season is a good one for you.

If I follow anyone it's the chiefs and the cowboys, not sure how they did or if they played this weekend

I love football @just4him . Last year I did a lot of posts covering the games and got very few responses, so this year, I might only write about the Super Bowl game. The Cowboys lost yesterday because of a stupid mistake in the final seconds of the game. The Seahawks and Panthers are my favorite teams.

@just4him I've been a Packers fan since I was a kid. It was Dad's favorite team.

I get very few responses as well, but I love my team, though I'm not a huge football fan. Typically it's a stupid mistake that loses the game. It was a close game for the Packers as well and could have gone either way in the last seconds of the game. I'm glad the Pack won.

It was a really good game. A lot closer than anyone expected I think, at least from what I understood from the announcers. It came down to the wire and could have gone either way.

I think lots of shows take a back seat to sports this time of year.
