My Grandson is in the Movies!

Earlier this summer, my daughter posted a photograph of my grandson on Facebook. I was a little confused.....his band uniform was the wrong colour and the drum had a different mascot/logo. Normally his uniform is bright red with navy pants and his drum is marked with the band logo, BTTB. You can clearly see that the uniform he is wearing is blue and the drum says Tigers. He looked youthful enough to be part of a Stephen King movie that was being filmed in the Toronto area. Originally they wanted them in their own uniforms and then decided that the scarlet coats were too Canadian looking. Initially the movie director thought he would just find another band from a Jr. High school...good luck with that....there are not that many marching band in the Canadian high schools, let alone Jr. high. I doubt that I will ever see the movie he is in, but it's still nice to be able to say....my grandson is in the movies! I believe the movie is based on the book IT

I could never forget how disappointed I was when I learned that our third son was offered to appear (leading man) in a documentary about an Asian girl raped by Asian boys but he backed out. He was discovered in a gym in Regina while working out. He refused because he had to act raping a girl.

I think I can understand why he refused. It shows strength of character. You should be proud of your son.

That is very cool. Do you know what the name of the movie is? It is such a great experience for him to be a part of a Stephen King Movie. Great picture. You are so right there are few marching bands in Canadian high schools. I don't believe there are any here in the Maritimes.

Is that him here in the corner of the picture with the blonde hair? What a great thing to happen to a young guy like him-what's the name of the movie?

I'm not sure of the name of the movie. Obviously a Stephen King movie would be horror, and I know that it is about Clowns. Yes my grandson is the blonde with the drum. He plays with the Burlington Teen Tour Band.

This is exciting. They already made a movie based on the book IT, it would be great to know if it's another movie.

The time between filming and the release of the movie seems ends. My grandson comments that the 'child actors' kept messing up their lines and they had retake after retake. An entire day was spent on what was essentially a few minutes in the film.

I get scared just reading his books, although I've seen a couple of the movies (onTV) you might have to see the movie just so you can say you did...

This young man is so dedicated. He, and the rest of the band are dedicated individuals. They are a great band and have played all over the world. They are the only non American band that has been invited to Pearl Harbour this November to participate in the pre ceremonies. The actual ceremony will be only military.

I may watch the clip the band is shown in, but the movie itself......probably not. My grandson has also stated, he doesn't want to see the movie. He thinks it's too creepy. He's 14, I'd agree with him.

I am not a fan of horror movies...maybe the two minute clip he's in, if they show him directly. If he's just background filler....not a chance.

@Morleyhunt I'd be battling to attend a horror movie too. Maybe they'll give him a clip of the sequence although I guess not.

The concept was exciting. The time spent on set and redoing over and over because the child actors kept flubbing their lines made for a very, very long day.
