Sometimes, I just say nothing...

...but not because I don't have something to say. It's just that what I have to say might possibly start a war, with bombs and missiles flying everywhere, and innocent myLotters could get injured in the fight. And no one would really come out the 'victor'. But I sit here, hands hovering over the keyboard, thinking what I would really like to say...and then oft times just close whatever discussion and move on. But sometimes I do go ahead and say something. After all, my opinion, while it may not mean diddly to anyone else, is often worthwhile enough to me to go ahead and give it, and damn the consequences. And then I seem to see three crowds of thought about that. #1 - I can't believe that heartless (expletive deleted) said that! #2 - I agree whole-heartedly! #3 - Whut th' hail jes' happened? But this morning, I'll just silently shake my head and move on...

@jolietjake "you say it best when you say nothing at all" as some silly teenage pop star has crooned .

The song itself is bad enough, but some of the Karaoke versions I have heard

I always seem to miss all the fun - or maybe I'm just not clever enough to pick up on it - whatever 'it' is.

@JolietJake I like a quiet life so I just pour sympathy as from a tap and never get into trouble that way. You should try it. :) AND - I knew I had a better comment for this post. It reminded me of that song about - 'you say it best when you say nothing at all!!' Gasp, can't breathe, laughing too much.

@JudyEv Yer the second person to mention that song, and if it turns into an earworm and gets stuck in my head, I'm gonna murderize both of you!

As an example, there are times I would like to say "If you didn't do x, y, and z all the time, q wouldn't happen". But in many of the 'why does this happen to me?' posts, the person doesn't really want to know why it happened, they just want sympathy that it happened to them...regardless of the fact that it was their actions that caused it.

Oh, can I relate. The discussion is put out there. They rally don't want it discussed. They want everyone to say.... A). Poor you....I feel so sorry for you, life treats you horribly B). ????? is a &@$#%! I feel so sorry for you. All I want to say is, listen to yourself, stop blaming the rest of the world because you make stupid choices.... Stop your whining..... No, like you I close the discussion and move on to the next. In conversation, I sit there and bite my tongue....

Sometimes, it's better to be silent than to say something that could hurt others more.

@JolietJake especially when they make the post the same discussion, day after day.....just a slightly different story.

Yeah, but sometimes people deserve a slap across the face to bring them to their senses

sometimes it's really not worth arguing cos people are just defensive and whatever you say there is something that they can say back. I do that at times do, even in real life, silently shake my head and move on.. if they ask for the reason, i will say "nothing" or "I don't know" even though it is not really that I don't know..just find it pointless to explain further since the person will never get it...

It's hard for me to 'hold my tongue' here sometimes, but there are instances that it just isn't worth the effort to say anything.

Sometimes it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Saying nothing at all can stop it just like that. But saying a few words sure can stir things up .

Normally I would...because that is me, as you said...but sometimes I just throw my hands in the air and say 'It's not worth it'

There must be more nonsense going on here. I just logged on so I haven't seen any of it just yet, I'm sure that I'll catch up soon enough. Just keep it to yourself if your best idea.

@JolietJake Good morning to you too, I'm good, I don't start work until 10, which is nice on a foggy morning. Try to behave, don't stoop to anyone's lowest.

I must have my head in an ostrich hole because I never seem to see these type discussions although I do see discussions about these discussions.

I probably notice them more than most users because I scan every discussion posted.

@ms1864 There are only 170 characters in a preview, I have 5-6 hours before work every day to scan the list

@JolietJake you are kidding! where do you get the time to scan all of them? Many of the titles are obvious enough ...aren't they?

Plenty of people on here say nothing but seem to take so many words to do it.

It is best to overlook those types of discussions...why waste time on something you KNOW you won't enjoy reading?
