Bank Robbery

When we went out this morning police were all over the place, They were on foot, driving police cars and a helicopter was buzzing overhead. We didn't know what was going on. Someone said a store had been robbed, someone else thought a car had been stolen. We finally discovered the Wells Fargo bank just a couple of blocks away had been robbed. I turned on the TV later but didn't hear anything about it. The Wells Fargo robbery was probably on later but I didn't sit and wait for it. I had an eye appointment. It was scary going out and finding all those policemen hustleing around. I didn't know we had that many policemen in our county, much less so many coming out to the same place at the same time. They had police cars along the road, and on the entrance to the interstate. Everywhere. When I saw so many of them I thought we might have a terrorist on the lose. Have you ever been in such a situation?

sThere was crime tape all around our bank once and it was on the news about how the bank was robbed. They never caught the robber that I know of.

I haven't heard if the police caught the guy they were after. I think there was a mistake about what happened. I still haven't heard anything a bout it on TV or in the paper. I know they were after someone but I don't know who or why.

@cacay1 I'm not sure, policemen were all over the area.

We've had a few bank robberies in our small city, but I don't think they brought out the cavalry for any of them. Our town pretends that not much crime happens here, and while that is somewhat true compared to other towns of the same size, there are weird crimes committed that never make it into the daily paper. Probably the state police were also involved, and possibly they called in police from other nearby counties to provide that many at one time in one place. We've also had helicopters flying close to the ground and when that's happened in the past, I always wondered whether someone escaped one of the prisons in the area.

@RubyHawk It would be good to know also just to steer from harms way. Maybe that's why people end up getting police scanners to better monitor live situations such as that.

I wish they would have announced what happened in the TV news and newspapers, We hear so much silly stuff on the news that is not news at all. And something this close to home is overlooked.

Wow I would have been scared spitless, too. We probably wouldn't haven't known anything was wrong if we hadn't walked out to the car.

I get so nervous when police are all over a place because of a crime or whatever . I would ask someone about what happened and go away .

They may have all been from your town. Some times they call in others from other counties. I have been in situations where five or six cop cars have shown up and that is rather intimidating but felt good that they took my call seriously.

@RubyHawk ....I've had to several times and you really get a mixture of personalities. Usually they are nice and helpful. They are also supposed to be peace officers, not just police.

@celticeagle Yes, I think especially at this time when so many things are happening.I read that policemen are getting more training in public relations.

I do not remember a bank robbery near my home. but many years ago my car was stopped and controlled 3 times by the police in fifty miles. I learned the day after in the media that they were looking for a well known criminal... with the same car/same color than mine.

@RubyHawk I asked to the last policeman why they were arresting my car every 10 or 20 miles and he just laughed. I was driving a lot at this time, and I was not controlled once a year. The guy they were looking for had escaped from a prison, and he has been arrested... 3 or 4 years later in Morocco. I still remember his name.

That would be scary too. I have been stopped at road blocks when the police were looking for a certain car or person. I don't even like that.

@topffer I see, you were driving the wrong car. At least they didn't take you in. I had a policeman stop me once after dark when I was on a side road with no traffic. I had heard to never stop on a lonely road at dark, that there were bad people who impersonated cops. I didn't stop until I got to a service station which was miles away. He was a little peeved. I had a tail light out and didn't know it. He gave me a warning and let me go on my way..

Not yet. Interesting is was Wells Fargo. Maybe someone thought it was payback time for the way they've been robbing their customers for years.

Those people need their money back, but firing employees who were following orders isn't the way to go. The executives should be the ones to go, without the huge retirement fund.

@RubyHawk No, we were on our way to go there and we could not understand why there was such a long line of cars stopped. When I saw many cars of the police coming I suspected that something happened.

I once walked up to a bank for a business transaction during their normal business hours and found the door locked. I found out later the bank was being robbed. It was announced on the news. I was happy I didn't get there earlier.

No one has expected that the Killers of late Sri Rajeev Gandhi were hiding in a building in the lane adjacent to our one.

Something was going on here past where my daughter lives way east of town. I so wanted to go on down the road and check it out after 3 sheriff cars whizzed from clear on the west side of town that way. I didn't have time to go check it out.

What a commotion! Hope it is all settled down now. We had a crazy scene at a Wal Mart one time. Police were chasing some guy that stole something, they ended up tazzing him in the parking lot. He just fell like a tree, never saw anything like that before.

I'm surprised that I haven't been in that situation because a few banks in our area have been hit in recent months. But I've (thankfully) never been that close and I am so glad you are safe and sound!
