Now that's a thought

I came across this quote today, “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.– Ayn Rand” On reading this it made me stop and think. How often just a slight change in perspective can make a world of difference to how we see things. Have you found that a change in the way you view something has made a difference? I am watching a Danish drama series at the moment called “Follow the money.” Near the beginning of the first episode one of the young characters is under pressure. His wife wants them to buy a property that they can't afford. She keeps on at him how she can't bring their baby up in the home where they are living. The young man had a bit of a chequered past. Another character suggests making some easy money by stealing a car. Against his better judgement the young man agrees to stealing one car. The moment he gave in to the pressure from these two people I knew he would regret that choice. He had set foot on a path that would take him farther than he wanted to go and cost him more than he could afford. Of course the wheels came off and it went from one disaster to another. His situation quickly spiralling out of control with what seems like no way back. If only the young man could have gazed into his future and seen the mess he was going to land himself. I am sure he would have seen things differently. I know it would have changed his perspective on his situation at home before he took that step.

It's a shame when those who should refrain you from doing something wrong, are those who push you into regrettable situations.

Yes, at times, the road to disaster can start with a single step, giving in to jut a bit of the wrong influence. I know. I have been there. At the same time, one step in the right direction can do wonders for us. Been there too!

I have never heard of this series but it sounds excellent. I actually just took a photo last week of a red dragonfly like this. Apparently they aren't very common around here.

@shaggin I took the post's photo a couple of days ago, I think that it is a damsel fly hard to tell the scale but this is much smaller than a dragonfly and the wings on a dragonfly at rest are not closed like that. I took the photo above the comment of a dragonfly just before the one above. I love insects. I would love to see your photo.

It shows how much we are influenced by others even if our natural inclinations would never have taken us in that direction.

@BelleStarr You are so right Belle we often let the opinions of others overwhelm and change our own.

This is a good quote. Young people don't always think about the consequences of their actions. Some older people don't either!

@sueznewz2 Yes it is one that I took the other day when I went out with Pauline so is the one in the reply above. Just one small step, but we know that it never stops there don't we.

I love Ayn Rand and her nonsensical way of preaching about the eccentricities of life.
