This is not the first time that we have had rain, and Princess sits in it. She moved right before I snapped this picture. She was sitting on that rock, in the rain, under the big cedar tree. I had the door propped open. I invited her in. She came over to look, and to stretch, but she is so strange. She sits out in the rain.

I can only suppose that since the rain is gentle, and she could get up against the tree she enjoyed the cooler air. This morning it is windy and the rain is falling harder so she does not seem to like it.

@GardenGerty This morning the air was cold and as soon as I opened the door the cat of my neighbor came inside. He is a silly kitty, he has his small door to come inside his house.

Most of mine have been that way. Hilarious to watch them if their paws get wet, step shake, step shake. I had one that LOVED water, though.

I had one that liked water, and bicycle rides in a basket, and car rides as well. I think he got into a moving van and went to Texas.

Isn't it funny what our pets will sometimes do? I wonder why he likes the lawn mower. Princess kitty likes all the cut grass after I mow.

I had one cat that liked all kinds of water. I learned many years later that it is a particular breed called Turkish Van that usually enjoys water. My niece found one swimming at a lake once.

One of my cats loves being out in the rain. She also likes hoses, shower heads and the bath.

I had a cat that would wade in puddles and chase icicles when a thaw made them fall from trees. Princess just sits there. Is your cat a particular breed?

Sounds like the cat was hot and needed to cool off.

She does seem to like it. I also think she likes to watch the activity of the creatures like mice, rabbits and squirrels when it rains.

My folks had a cat, Suki, who liked water. She tried to jump in the tub with my mom once to chase the bubbles. Another time we were watering the shrubs and the water had kicked up some sudsy bubbles and she was in there chasing them. Both times her mother, Cat, was sitting just beyond the water, the first time on the edge of the tub, the other time, just at the edge of the porch, trying to get her out of it. Later, when we moved to an apartment complex, she would go out during the rain and come in soaked from chasing the water coming out of the drains from the roofs.

I guess Princess is changing as she ages. I have had cats that enjoyed puddles. I have had Siamese cats thatjust went crazy and would leap before they looked and land in the tub.

@GardenGerty I've had cats walk into the shower since I had the shower converted to having a low step over. Since the water mostly would stay at the other end of the shower they weren't always aware of the water until too late!

Patches is such a sissy that she does not like to get her hair wet in the rain or snow. She will not even go outside.

I imagine Princess will change her mind when it gets cold. Then she will want to sleep beside the bed and expect a lamp on since there will be less sun.
