Reading myLot comments is sort of like opening packages

When you write a discussion and throw it out there, you really never know how it will go over. If you have been around a while and interact with a lot of people, chances are a lot of those myLotters will read and comment. Then there are the new people out there from all over the world who are exploring the site. It is great to hear from them too. I used this same photo last week in writing about the sort of silly idea of lighted toilet seats. The photo came up when I searched Pixabay for photos of toilet seats. The image is actually the Huzhou Hotel in China. A teacher, @williamjisir66 in China happened to see the image and his comment was that the hotel and lake is near his home and he goes there to the lake with his family quite often. Funny thing that he came to read my post because of a photo I chose for novelty value. His comment was my surprise package on that discussion. Do you get surprises in the comments on discussions?

Hearing from the same person all the time is ok. It means you have friends on here.

Very true. We only have the vaguest idea about who we are communicating with, but the words do help.

Sometimes I get a comment from someone I've never heard of. What surprises me is when I get more than four or five comments.

@teamfreak16 I understand. Music is something everyone likes, but not what everyone wants to dig into I guess.

@JamesHxstatic - I find I get more response when I write about something other than music. Which I expect.

All the time, I am surprised who comments and often the comments make me laugh. I also take for granted that most know what I'm talking about but occasionally someone will ask what is that???

I often get surprises in the comments. If I'm short of time I read all the comments to see what's been said then I'll go back later and reply to them all.

That's a good way of looking at it, comparing it to opening parcels. Usually the parcels contain something nice, often something amusing, often surprising and I guess very occasionally you might wonder if the wrong parcel has been sent because the comment doesn't seem to fit with the original post at all!

As you already know, I very much enjoy your discussions and comments. I never really thought about the comments like opening packages but you are certainly right. That's a great metaphor for it. Especially since the comments are so different and unique like wrapping paper as well as the different gifts hidden beneath the paper. That's a lovely architectural photo and I would have never thought it was a hotel!
