Rain And More Rain

Yesterday, we had two storms come through and we received some much needed rain. Our temps have been really chilly with highs in the 60's and lows in the 50's. Quite a bit of difference than the 90's we were getting. I had to actually wear a light jacket last night because of the chill in the air. The above picture shows how much rain we got in a short time. The rocks were laid to help with the drainage problem but as you can see, it looks like a small river. I hate having the rocks there as it looks out of place yet it normally does help with the drainage but not when it comes down so hard. With the storms came some thunder and poor Bella and Daisy were both with me in my recliner and were shaking so bad. I tried to calm them but to no avail. All I could do was just hold them and talk calmly as they can pick up any change in my voice. Eventually, the rain stopped and so did the thunder. Bella and Daisy soon forgot about the thunder and were off playing together.

We had no rain yesterday, but it seems that we are going to have rain from tomorrow and the following two or three days.

We have had a lot of rain off and on since I wrote this discussion. We are supposed to have more this week and then the weather will be cooling off again.

@simone10 It is raining since Saturday night here, a lot of rain. The sky is grey and dark, it's almost depressing.

@LadyDuck It can be depressing if the sky stays grey and dark for a long time and there is no sunshine. Yesterday we had one of those days and it looked like rain but we never got any. Instead, our temps have dropped into the 40's this morning but we will be back up to 85 tomorrow.

I don't care if it rains as long as it's after Sunday evening and my daughters baby shower.

I don't mind the rain either as long as I don't have to get out in it.

I'm glad you got some much needed rain. Poor Bella and Daisy. Dogs really are affected by thunder.

They really are and I wish I could do something to help them but we just have to wait it out.

@simone10 My dog, Rascal, would hide behind the headboard of my waterbed. The first time I looked for him I almost freaked because I thought he had gotten out. I was relieved to find him and that's where he always went for every storm. Pip also looked for a place to hide and wait out the storm. I really miss them.

@just4him It just breaks your heart when you know that they are scared. I just want to comfort them.

We have well over an inch of rain over the 10 days we were away - and it's still drizzling.

@JudyEv It's good that your weather is warming up. Ours is just now starting to get cold for the winter.

@simone10 We're back from our trip now and it seems the weather has finally decided to warm up and stop raining.

Do you mean the dogs? Yes, they have really bonded, especially Daisy. We got Daisy when she was 8 weeks old and I think she thinks of Bella as her mother.

We had thunder very early this morning and lots of rain and wind. We don't have any rocks out, but I'll have to be careful when I drive to keep out of the bigger puddles.

Sometimes it's hard to keep out of the puddles if it has rained a lot.

I wonder why it is that dogs are terrified of thunder. My old dog was the same.

I think it has to do with the sound. They don't understand where it is coming from and some thunder can be extremely loud.

so glad 'ja got'cha some rain 'n cooler temps, hon. i know that's such a relief fer all. 'tis great those rocks t'were placed - sure ought to help with erosion fer when ya get those heavy downpours. poor pups :( the neighbors pup who's livin' here 'tis terrified 'f loud noises, too. he'd love to be'n my lap fer such, but i fear he's gotta settle fer shelterin' out'n my pottin' shed 'nstead. ya know, coz he chases cats 'n we aint sure if'n he'd harm the one that lives here'r not - aint gonna take that risk.

I really feel for them when they are so scared of loud noises. They don't understand what it is or where it is coming from. Poor Daisy shakes so bad and nothing I do really helps either of them. We just have to wait it out and once it's quiet again, they are okay.

@crazyhorseladycx I wish my dogs were like that. I can't leave them alone in the apartment if there is a storm in the forecast because they would really freak out if I wasn't here.

@simone10 poor lil darlin's :( i'm fortunate that the pup that resides 'ndoors only gets a tad nervous when the storms're so fierce the windows 'n house shake.
