A great man was born today

India
October 2, 2016 7:05am CST
One who exemplified the simplicity, the compassion, and the steely determination. Who knew a country needs not the humility alone but the assertion too. Who would seek knowledge, and make sacrifices for fellow travelers. Who adorned the highest post but was never infected by the power. Whose plethora of knowledge we could have benefited with. And who left us mysteriously, in a foreign land. The image of Indian I hold dear. It's a shame that I admire him a lot and yet, I can't write a proper ode to him, I forget his birthday each year, I know so little about him. That he is shadowed by someone else.... Shat shat naman - bow a thousand times - to Shashtri Ji. Let the light of knowledge spread....

Well, it's spreading to me, since I never knew of him before and now I do!

Wow...my salutes...right man to admire...do you know that man used overcoat and wore torn Kurtas beneath them...there is lot to be admired in that man...we are so focused on only one person that we completely forget this man who set an example...which should have been followed.

I mean to find out more about him, and write it down in my website(?). So far I know what you just shared (thanks! ) and the river-study fact (which I need to verify, might have been someone else). There could be other tidbits (gaaah.... bad word!) too, learned in my school and now forgotten. I am really appalled to forget the date I could tell anytime as a student. K. M. Munshi.... had not even heard of him till I watched Samvidhaan. The actor portraying his part made me curious. I think they were lucky there as Mr. Munshi appears to be as 'mischievous' as shown. Very little info about him too, on part public domain I searched.

@hora_fugit I believe Shastri was deliberately hidden from limelight. Had he shone well, there would be no room for Indira Gandhi.

Okay, I understand "shat shat naman" but uhm... Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about this man except he was a prime minister for India. So much for learning important things about your country... (I have been very busy, so have let studying things about your country slide. I am sorry... I am sorry you can't keep his birthday in mind, YOU. You could try what I do... I have a list written on Notepad with everyone's birthdays listed (I keep it on my desktop.), if I have been told their birthdays... I don't have everyone's birthday I need listed, though. I hope I don't miss one.... I wouldn't want anyone to feel forgotten or left out...

Help @vandana7 with her psychoanalysis. She is researching Shastri ji on my commands. So sooner you finish her psycho-projects, sonner she starts telling stories to you!
