Have I told you about the time I was volunteered to be a Cheerleading Coach? I'm pretty sure I didn't. There I was at a little before practice and tryouts meeting for little hopeful cheerleaders minding my own business when I heard my name mentioned as a possible coach. I thought "Who me?". Before I knew it I was the coach for a group of 8 to 9 year olds. I hadn't cheered since high school. I had no idea what to do. Fortunately, they had a high school cheerleader who volunteered her help. We all made it through the year without any incidents. We didn't win any trophies, but we all sure had a lot of fun. Have you ever been volunteered for anything?

No. I don't volunteer. Always very shy and not one to put forth much. I bet you had a lot of fun. That is a fun age for young girls.

It is a great age for girls, they haven't quite developed an attitude yet and they give it their all.

I've been volunteered to make things and to drive places, to supervise. I was a volunteer gymnastics coach for 8 years. I am not a gymnast, but I could spot the girls, correct them.....an French braid, half the teams hair.

When my girls were in dance competition I must have French braided a hundred different heads of hair. At least that's how it fell at the time.

@HazySue the neighbour came to my house the morning of competition. I always instructed...at least day old hair....it was always freshly washed. Dirty hair was so much easier and required a lot less hairspray.

@Morleyhunt it is easier to braid if they hadn't just washed it.

We've done a lot of volunteering over time but we missed out on coaching a cheer-leading team.

It was a lot of fun and laughter. They were so cute in their little cheerleading uniforms.

Not exactly. But we all were required to coach a team at our school so I chose soccer. That was quite a joke to my mother the gym teacher as I was a confirmed book worm throughout my childhood.
