Risque discussions can be fun but be careful what words you use!

Yesterday myself and others had fun joining a very amusing discussion which I knew would soon disappear. Sure enough, by this morning it had gone.
It concerned an hilarious tale of online fraud, a credit card and a gentleman's private parts. Unfortunately the poster used a rather harsh word for them in the title of the discussion. Now, it might be that the writer themself removed the post but I'm guessing that Admin had a problem with THAT word (which I warned the writer about).
It's not just about what might be a bit too strong for some users here, there are also the advertisers to consider. Yes, we might see those images of dramatically pneumatic Spring Break women on some ads but everyone draws the line somewhere and that word may have been too much. When I was on Bubblews one of the most prolific writers there had hundreds of seemingly mild posts removed at the request of advertisers and lost a small fortune in passive income.
His first language was English but I think it might sometimes be the case where English is a second language that people might be aware of a word but unaware of its power to offend. It's a pity to lose a funny post because of that. Innuendo (which itself sounds like a rude word) is a safer bet.
Today I have responded to a discussion about flatulence. Once again the poster has used a rather blunt term in the title. Will it survive? The answer, to quote the great Bob Dylan, is blowing in the wind...
Do you self-edit before posting something here that may be controversial? Or do you publish and be damned (or at least deleted?)

On the old mylot I had loads of discussions/posts removed but here I've had no discussions removed but plenty of responses/comments mainly because the whole discussion was removed.
Currently I'm steering clear of controversy in all forms (as a poster) but quite often get involved in discussions that I know will be removed.

It's not as if you'd lose a fortune if a whole thread came down - although it might be a bit annoying if you finished the month on $4.99 as a.result!

@asfarasiknow Unlike the old site earnings aren't deducted if discussions are removed.
That's been confirmed by admin and my own experience as I've deleted literally hundreds of my own posts (discussions, responses, comments) and never lost a cent.

I guess with music posts you might have to consider whether to exactly quote the odd 'Parental Advisory' lyric or even record title.

@asfarasiknow - I try my best to stay away from those. Why risk getting kicked off the site?

I don't write about subjects that could get deleted although I might put something in the title that is questionable, but nothing that would get beeped out of a comment. If people would check first they'd find the answer and not have to have their posts deleted.
There are words on one side of the pond that mean nothing much at all and mean altogether something different on the other side as has been seen previously here when talking about differences in words.

Maybe I am the one out to lunch here. I don't mind if I'm shown that I'm wrong on something. Words that come off the farm (male bird) are never rude but of course it depends on how they are used in context. But if one particular word is considered trash then another more suitable one can be used.
But look here I want to make this point and may forever more never touch on the subject again given if I can monitor myself from not doing so. It has been historically proven that posts get deleted on this site based on public opinion not some illusive standard.
The report link at the bottom of each postings has always been the greatest motivator. I can't speak for the staff on board but do see this happening because I've been here everyday watching posts. When complaints are raised by a segment of the population then posts disappear. In short member influence means a lot around here.
This could be a good thing as well as bad.

@Bluedoll I don't think you can say they are never rude. It all depends on how it's presented and the context. While what you said here may be true, I doubt that posts are deleted merely because of public opinion. SInce I didn't see the post in question, I've no idea how it was presented.

Agreed - but this particular word (meaning male bird) is a bit rude in either country!

Sometimes it's good the site has a filter on it so posts don't offend anyone. I haven't had any posts deleted for that purpose, however, I've had two posts come under the filter and both of them were my Daily Bible Study. The first time the filter chose words that are not even bad words but didn't like the fact that the two chosen were beside each other. The second time it came under the filter really didn't surprise me but I had to make a change to the Biblical text itself as the Biblical word was not accepted on the site.

Do you find that putting quotations on here, for example, passages from the Bible, causes any problems in that they obviously appear in many other places on the internet?

I choose not to post anything which could be controversial. Not because its the rule of my lot for not to use few words, but because of my morals. I have a strong ethic of which topic not to discuss. I somehow feel that few topics are really sensitive, that's why I don't prefer posting any such!

Sincerely this is just a question.
Do you find that questionable posts which might cause issues say for example a Hillary and Trump political post might make a person unpopular and therefore could actually hurt their earning capacity. By reducing or limiting such content also in turn reduce a persons capacity to have an opinion?
Just a question.

By staying with that ethic you will have friendships on here, not get reported and deleted and build a body of positive posts that many people will like.

Yeah I agree , ,for the people to whom english isn't the first language have to face such glitches coz mere knowing the meaning of the word not every time specify it's right place.Anyway still it is surviving.

I tend to self-edit unless it something that offends me deeply, but there are ways to express thoughts without being offensive. I never have seen anything funny about flatulence.
