Cat’s Mother Instinct

I never thought that a cat can be so protective of their kittens. I tried to hold one of the kittens as my cat had them 2 days ago. I am planning to have some photos but mother cat embraced her kittens. Perhaps I should wait for a couple of days. I am so fascinated with cat’s instinct. It was like a mother who protects their child at all costs. Are your cats do the same thing? Image Credit: pixabay.com

All the mother cats do the same. Wait some more days and try to be very gentle if you try to touch the kitties.

I can't wait, my dear friend. I just need to be patient enough to see these kittens can able to walk without their mother's care.

@Shavkat You need to be patient. They walk by their own, with the eyes fully open, when they are 3 weeks old.

My dad told me that the cat mother protected her children so much, especially after they were born. You should not touch the kittens at all. Since if you touch them, then the cat mother will smell the difference and then she might hurt the kittens. Since the kittens have other smells and therefore she can't recognize her babies any more.

I didn't dare to touch the kittens. I will just wait for a couple of weeks. Perhaps Rose will allow me to touch it.

I think all animals in general have "parent" instincts with their babies.

I agree. I didn't notice this with my dog after giving birth. Rose is really a bit agitated if someone wants to hold the kittens.

They are very protective @Shavkat because they don't know what your intentions are.

I think that s kitten at a couple of days old being picked up might just make mummy cat show just how protective she can be. I would wait a while before picking them up again.

I have no choice but to wait. I am contented seeing them in their mother's care.

sadly many times animals are more protective than us humans. we abandon our kids while animals in most of the cases would never do that

They pick the kittens in the neck by their mouth. But it is very safely and it not makes any hurt to the kitten.

Certainly all mother animals are very protective of their babies. In a day or two she will probably trust you more.

Indeed, one step at a time for seeking the approval from Rose.

Newborn kittens are helpless. Their eyes are closed and they can't even stand up. Of course their moms are protective of them or they wouldn't survive. Give her a could of days. The more attention you pay her kittens, the more nervous you'll make her.

It's a natural instinct for a mother. I also tried to place the kittens in a basket but the mother grabbed one in her mouth and carried it back to the washing machine full of dirty laundry.
