Anheuser-Busch Brewery is Sending Water to Hurricane Victims

The Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville, Georgia, is one of the largest breweries in the United States, and currently produces 24 different types of beer. But in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, the brewery has shut down beer production, and has instead begun canning water to send to hurricane-ravaged areas. The brewery can churn out 800,000 cans of water per day. So far, nine tractor-trailer loads of water have been loaded and sent to coastal areas to provide free water to those affected by the hurricane. The brewery plans to continue providing water over the next several days. It's nice to see that there are still some corporations left in this world who can put greed and profits aside for the good of the nation, and help out in this time of need. Have you heard of any other companies or big corporations stepping in to help with hurricane relief efforts?

I think some people would have preferred a six pack.

I know a lot of home improvement stores donate to disaster victims. BTW, you live in Jacksonville. How did you fare in the storm?

I live in Gainesville, which is just to the southwest of Jacksonville. We didn't receive much damage where i live, but the people of Jacksonville had some flooding issues. Most of that area is still without power, but crews have been working around the clock to restore electricity to people. As far as wind damage, Jacksonville fared pretty well. And compared to cities a little farther south, and many communities farther north, Jacksonville didn't flood as bad as it could have.

@moffittjc -- sorry, misread the "ville" there. (I saw the Eagles in Gainesville when I was stationed in Jacksonville, so I know where it's at.) Glad you're okay. My uncle lives in Orlando and it was quite windy there. It was sadly nostalgic watching the hurricane hit almost every place I've ever lived.

@FourWalls Did you see the Eagles when they played a concert at the football stadium in Gainesville? There's been a lot of speculation over the years that they recorded the live version of "Seven Bridges Road" at that concert in Gainesville!

Sending water to those affected by the hurricane certainly is admirable especially for a large corporation. I heard that Met Ed (which is our local electric company) sent linemen down to Florida to help restore power

That is nice that people and organizations from around the country are sending help! We may not always agree with each other on everything, but Americans are the most generous people on the planet and will step in to help out whenever and wherever help is needed. I saw this morning that hundreds of military vehicles from bases in Florida are heading up to South Carolina and North Carolina to help out with the terrible flooding that is now going on there.

What a kind company to do that. It has devastated Haiti. Rip to all those who lost their lives.

I haven't heard much on the news about what the rest of the world is doing to help, but even in the midst of it's own perils with the hurricane the United States is sending aid to Haiti. Reports have been coming in that hundreds of military helicopters are flying in relief supplies to Haiti and that ships are on the way with more supplies, as well as doctors, aid workers, and medicine. I hope other countries jump in to help out in Haiti.

I'm sure many of them are quietly helping out without seeking any recognition.

That's a nice gesture. As you say, good to know that there are some big companies that aren't just obsessed with profit.

Anheuser-Bush is a wonderful company, I still remember their Tribute commercial 911, it was so moving. I have saved it on my computer.
