I planted the seedlings in bigger containers.

The basilseedlings I bought on Sunday were so small that I did not dare plant them on the ground. So I just separated them with great care and placed them one by one in containers. Leticia planted the tomato seedlings which were a lot bigger and she put some slug killers in between plants. She won´t have the slugsand snails eat them as they did Claudia´s. I will have to go on planting tomorrow. I picked out the ones that were less small and had to use a good and soft soil for those so little roots. Gardening, sometimes, is like having a new baby. Yet I love it.

I never plant directly on the ground. The snails do not eat the seeds, but the ants steal them.

My seedlings are now in small containers. I don´t have as many snails as my daughter has.

@LadyDuck I told my daughter to go with a flashlight at night and collect them but she said it was gross

I had luck one year growing basil in the large container with the tomatoes then did nothing with it! I really would love to learn how to grow and then use the herbs. I've watched all kinds of videos and have read books but it's just not sticking with me.

Pesto is very easy to make. You pick the leaves, place them in the blender with cloves of garlic and olive oil. Blend. Done! I don´t use either salt nor nuts because then I freeze it in plastic containers. I can add salt, nuts and/or grated cheese when I use it.

I always just buy basil seed and start with that. I've never actually bought basil seedlings.

Seedlings here cost very little and I don´t need a lot of plants. I hope I can have around 20 grown plants by summer.
