Congratulations to all of you who have been paid here at MyLot. To those who have not, well next month is another pay day. What have you done today? It's almost 12 noon here and I have just started Mylotting. An hour ago I was in my tropical garden harvesting guavas and pomelos. The guavas was my breakfast and the pomelos will be my snack this afternoon. The photo above is our one and only pomelo tree. It bears a lot of fruits. I think I will be able to eat one everyday. Do you harvest any food in your garden? Have a great day

Wow! I like that especially the sweet variety cause sometimes we get to buy ones that are bitter. We have a mango tree in the front yard and the local fruits "kamias" and "balimbing" that litters a lot of leaves, we can no longer consume all so we give it to those who want. Have a great day too.

@thelme55 perhaps it's poor soil drainage that's causing that or the tree is simply old. Kamias is a sour fruit similar to star fruit but has fruits even in the trunk, it's also called kalamias or iba in the Southern Philippines.

I can't remember what Kamias is @louievill. We have also Balimbing or star fruit trees here but the fruits are not good anymore. The skin of the star fruits have dark spots and they are scattered in the ground. It was not like that before. How I wish I know how to cure our star fruits tree.

I love Pomelo. It is one of my favorite fruits although it can be quite expensive when not in season. You are so lucky to have a tree of your own. The ones from Davao are pretty good and very sweet and juicy.

I think what we have is like that from Davao @lealuvy2j Sweet and juicy. I have seen in Gaisano that 1 kilo pomelo is almost 200 Pesos. Very expensive.

I only recently discovered pomelos, they are not common in the shops here. But my daughter absolutely loves them so it's a shame we don't get them that often. They don't grow here but seem to be imported from China. What is your climate like? What part of Germany do you live in? I presume you grow them outdoors?

@thelme55 that explains it, I thought they would need a more tropical climate!

Pomelos are sometimes sold in Asian shops @Fleura. I live in North Rhine Westphalia but this pomelo tree is grown in my Philippines garden. Pomelos will not grow in Germany but sometimes they are sold in the markets like Aldi.

How old is your pomelo tree now? I just planted one few months ago. It'll be fun harvesting our own pomelo.

They are included in the citrus family. Similar to oranges just green skin color when unripe and turn a bit yellow when ripe. The fruits inside is glassy in color and taste a bit sour but mostly they are sweet and tangy @Happy2BeMe

This is a nice harvest. I remember I read a Filipino Mylotter's discussion and he said that the pomelos are expensive there. So you can see you are so lucky to have so many pomelos in your garden.
