Three different photos, all from Pixabay, all from different contributors. My eye was caught by the guy in the tub, and the mirror image of him in another... "Hang on!", I thought... I went back and read some of the comments on each of the photos in Pixabay - seems the photoshopped one uses the topmost and bottom-most shots to create a third. Yet the photoshopper left a comment on Pixabay with the owners of both original images - so I guess it's ok! Ah well! Thanks for all the input rounded up below, I had not encountered this before, I wonder how often it happens...?

It is an unusual shape for a postcard, isn't it?

@Asylum In a roundabout way, I chanced upon this:
While on holiday in Lloret De Mar last week I chanced upon many racks of postcards, which is not unusual for holiday resorts. However, while cutting through the...

It's obvious that the image on the bottom is photoshopped which makes me wonder of people could steal a photo from anywhere on the web and create a new image using parts of the one stolen and have it become an original?

When given consent to use an image then there isn't a problem @pgntwo but so many don't get the permission from the artists which is what I think is totally wrong, it's like stealing a song.

@rebelann There are those, it seems , who live life at the edge... Give me a veil of anonymity and I am happy, thin and all as that may be... :)

Okay, I checked, the first photo has been published the first time on a Wordpress Blog the 28th June 2013. The one posted on Pixabay has been posted this year... they are both plagiarists.

@pgntwo The one who was posted in 2013 is not the one with the glass, but the one of the man rowing. The name of the person who used the image in Wordpress is not the same as the one who uploaded to Pixabay. Anyway if nobody complains how can they know!? I found one of my photos some months ago on Pixabay.

@LadyDuck It does make you wonder how any sort of control on images could be maintained on the Internet! An interesting discussion this has been :)

I have redrafted my post in light of facts revealed from pixabay... Must take a look at the earlier version of the main photo that you discovered...

I would guess if it's a free image on pixabay then you can do whatever you like with the image. From all that I've seen they have all said they are free even for commercial use, meaning we can use them places like here where we earn.

So it would seem, although they do appear to take a dim view of images with poor quality...

It's up to the one who posted the original photo to complain. Anyway the contributors do not receive compensation, at most the plagiarist is required to remove his photo. Even Alex posted that he does not care a lot about photo. If someone complains, he deletes. It's almost impossible to know who spread the first photo. Now I go to check if both images are plagiarized.

If it is the same man, it stands to reason it has to be the same bald patch.
