My husband comes from the Italian island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea. His family lives in a village in the mountains. We’ve helped lots of German friends find accommodation with the locals, either in houses in the vineyards between the village and the sea or directly in the village. Once, I went to the beach by car with a woman who stayed in the village.
Her car was parked on a noisy piazza. When we got in, we didn’t hear anything, but on the way down the extremely curvy road, we noticed strange noises coming from the engine. They didn’t sound ‘technical’, though, and came at irregular intervals. When we parked in front of a supermarket near the beach where we wanted to buy some goods, the noises became more distinct. They now sounded like animal noises. But how was that possible?
Emancipated women that we were we started looking around for a man and soon found a heroic looking one who dared open the hood for us. And what did he find? A small cat peeping fearfully out from its hiding-place between the hot and stinking tubes! It had obviously slipped into the car when it was parked in the village and then gone with us for half an hour down the road to the beach. We bought some milk, fed it and then drove on to the beach proper where our friends were waiting for us.
When the children saw me holding the cat, they all went mad. They wanted to hold it, to keep it, to adopt it on the spot and take it back to Germany with them. That was a hard situation for the parents! The first tears were appearing when the cat suddenly jumped from my arm, ran away to a car nearby and disappeared under the hood! No coaxing made it come out again.
What now? We asked around, but nobody knew who the car belonged to. We wished the cat well and wanted to do something for it, but what? In the end, someone had the idea to write a note for the car driver. We wrote “Attention please, there’s a cat in your engine” on a piece of cardboard which we put under a windscreen wiper. Can you imagine the car driver’s reaction? I’m sure he thought someone had had too much sun and had lost their marbles.

Going on this and another comment elsewhere I gather your wife likes cats. Do you have one of your own? Or rather, does the family have one?

@RitzzView Which word should I choose instead? I can always change it.

@MALUSE i don't know..I just wanted to express that the word story pops up the mind with 'its fiction'.
So..something which could depict that its a nonfiction.
Like, the word 'incident' give more clear idea about its a nonfiction
(Just saying my Point Of View though)

Not sure what the Sardinian version of "pétanque", or "bocci" is called, but i am sure you'd know if you lost those marbles... :)
We had a cat get injured in the car that way once, foot got caught between a belt and a pulley in amidst the engine. Not ptetty, but the vet was able to repair the damage fairly well.

If I ever see a not with a message like that on my car, I will assume that some one was playing a prank on me.

I just love kittens. This one seem to be very independent. I wonder why it chooses cars? Is it the cold and he is warming himself, do you think?

@Gita17112016 Yes, we must not forget that what we think is 'normal' is not normal or completely unknown in other countries. One of the funniest questions I've come across here was the question by a woman from the Philippines, namely, "How do you prepare for the monsoon season?" No monsoon in the Americas and Europe! :-)

@MALUSE One can't be too sure because I have learn here what I know of my country is not the same for other countries. When people speak of snow or cold I take a back seat. I have not experienced those things. We have rats that creep up the engine and sleep there. But it is to hide from the dogs.

Maybe the cat is finding some warmth that his body needs that's why he like to be in the engine place .

It is not uncommon for cats t climb into car engines, it usually ends badly for them.

That is some amusing story. I wonder why the cat loves to live in cars.

I've heard of snakes climbing up into warm engines too. I hope the cat made it safely wherever he was headed.

We had a cat, Max, who loved to ride in cars or golf carts. We ride around the neighborhood daily checking on people's houses and other things. Max would always hop in the cart with us for his daily ride. One of the neighbors adopted Max, without our permission. They were going on a trip and decided to board Max while they were gone. The woman, at one point, decided that Max needed to go to the bathroom and let him out of the car. Max ran off and the couple couldn't get him back. I was very upset that she lost "MY" cat, but there wasn't too much we could do about it. We are slowly getting Petey, my orange tabby, to ride in the cart with us. He will ride to the edge of the driveway and back but that is it for now. Hopefully one day we can get him to ride with us like Max did.
In Montana cats would crawl up in engines to get warm. It got to the point that you wouldn't get into the car without checking the engine for a cat snuggled up and getting warm.

your story ended well - we know of a mommy cat who had her litter in a car hood but when the owner drove it our the yard, they all fell out and were killed. Some people always drive like maniacs even in their own driveways (In SA we have long driveways)

The note was a good idea. At least the poor kitty had a fighting chance that way, because it obviously didn't learn anything from that experience.

I hope the car owner took the note seriously.
When i was a kid, maybe 6 or 7, me and my brother found a box of kittens outside our house..with no hesitation we brought all 4 of them in the house to ask our mom if we could keep them. We had a dog already, but our parents agreed to keep them all.
