No, We Don't Pick Up Joe

The taxi driver for the ride to the doctor was a dud. He wasn't talkative or friendly at all. But, the one for the ride home was handsome, polite and very friendly. We heard over the car dispatch radio a conversation. A different taxi driver asked if he was to pick up 'Joe'. The dispatcher replied very sternly: "No, We don't pick up Joe!" We quirried about this. My cab driver said they get all manner of people and we discussed that afew minutes. I said something about it just striking me funny. (I was giddy from relieve about the doctor's appointment being over) O'pes! Don't want to pick up Joe! Then we were going by a construction site where only the trees had been planted. No building yet. The driver made some comment about 'That must be because Joe was coming'. We all laughed. Then a few minutes later I saw a gal crossing the bridge on foot. She was obviously trying to get away from Joe. We all laughed again.
We went on for several minutes about Joe this or that and were soon in hysterics. It felt so good to laugh and enjoy some socializing after my long awaited visit to the doctor.

When I lived in the city I had a regular taxi driver that I always used. He was very friendly.
