Good morning,we just finish up some of the clothing that we got yesterday. My friend who pass away and did not realized that he was sort of one. Was a clothes horse.Nothing but the best.Top brand etc. He was a physiologist.Every day different outfit. We have not got the suits yet.Too many. His wife wanted to donated to the homeless.Well fine. But sure if they will wear this type of clothing. We do have warm jacket and coat for them. I try to talk Mike in taking to the consignment shop Any money that we get.Give it to her.But she does not want this.Homeless or Charity. You really have to see the clothing. He had two closet full.Did I mentioned shoes?yes. Top,I mean top brand. How would you handle this? The photo is some of the clothing.

I think consignment shop would be best. Try to get top dollar for fine quality clothes thus a tidy sum to charity that can buy a lot of food for the homeless with the holidays coming.

If she has to have it her way then she should be doing it herself. You guys are trying to help so she should be happy. Take the most expensive items to consignment and donate the others.

Would she allow you to sell them in a consignment shop and then donate the money generated from those sales to charity? That way her goal of giving to charity is met and yet, like you say, the clothing will be used, not all homeless have need for more then the very basics. But then again, maybe she wants the homeless to be very well dressed.

You should keep what you like, and stick to her wishes. I believe a consignment shop is best, and you can always donate the money to your favorite charity.

I am helping an elderly relative get rid of some things. She paid a lot of money for her clothes. I found a charity that helps get people ready for the job market and they want nice suits for people to wear to a job interview. It is called Dress For Success and is in many cities in the US. But, here they do not want any clothes more that 5 years old. Anyway, that is another charity that is out there and it could make her feel good to donate to them. Anyway, even though my relative paid a lot of money for her clothes, consignment shops don't want them either since they are more than 5 years old. So, the charity shops get them all.

I think you nhave to do what the widow wants - if the homeless people refuse them, then take them to a charity shop.

A homeless person needs warm clothes for winter. Good shoes always help as do socks and blankets. They are not picky about outfits, either.

This is an old post but I'm wondering if you were able to get some clothes for yourself.

I would sell them and then buy her something or go give the money to the power company for future bills.
