Giving up on sweets, or well trying! Getting cavities filled today.

My mother and I will be going to the dentist later this afternoon to get our cavities filled. I'm not looking forward to having my gums numbed with the needles, drilling noises and having my mouth stared down upon for about a hour! No more sweets for me! Well I'm going to try. It doesn't help when I have some candy left from Halloween - the temptation! I may have to reward myself if I accomplish no sweets diet. Time to cut down on sugar/sweets. It doesn't help when the holidays are around the corner too. Maybe just a little sweets only... How do you accomplish your personal goals? Do you treat yourself for motivation. First of all, how dare you post the picture of those goodies! Now I want one! I have to scale down on sweets and give up chocolates entirely because I was trying to lose weight. Now that I have achieved my goal and my blood work results show I am healthier without it, I avoided it completely. Of course there is an occasional cupcake day at the office and I will have one but that's it. I will be good for months after that.

That is amazing! I need to loose some weight too so this is a 2 in 1. No sweets (eat less) for my weight/heath and good for my teeth too.

Before you give up on sweets you should know that they are not the only food that cause cavities. When foods with carbohydrates like bread, cereal, milk, soda, fruit, cake, or candy stay on your teeth, they turn into acids. Acid, food debris, and your saliva combined form the plaque. The acids in plaque dissolve the enamel, creating holes called cavities.

Ah yes you're right. :) But sweets in general for me because I like to munch on them. I don't often drink soda but some foods have natural sweets/sugars in fruits, even rice!

@infatuatedbby So true, the hidden sugar in food is the worst for our teeth, as it is the acid food.

I wish I had gone that route(stopping the sweets) many years ago. My head is almost void of any teeth.

I don't think that the sweets cause the trouble teeth As long as you brush your teeth well, it shall be fine. And eating sweets will not cause the diabetes. But people think that the sweets are unhealthy food. In fact proper sugar will be necessary for us. I think if we eat everything properly, it shall be fine with us.

I think natural sugars is fine but like sugars from candies, sodas, etc which I will need to cut down from will be better. :)

@infatuatedbby I saw your photo and said WOW, those look as nice as the ones in Whole Foods Market and then I read your caption. Tantalizing, aren't they? The sweets I have the hardest time resisting are the little candy corn tidbits we have at Halloween. I have to hide them from myself really well or I will try to eat the whole bag up. It is an odd attraction because they really aren't that tasty, but for some reason I crave them.

Ha-ha! Yes you got that right. They're from Whole Foods. I love Whole Foods - I'm there every week sometimes even two times! I am not a fan of the candy corn but I bet anything small like that you just pop them in your mouth & get addicted.
