Spoiler alerts A genuinely scary entry in the found footage horror genre with a powerful, credible environmental disaster theme, and a few clever make you jump moments. A relatively unknown cast help to create the documentary realism of this rather plausible eco-warning feature which has more than a hint of Doomwatch to it. Plot wise, a Maryland seaside town is celebrating the 4th Of July. A young reporter (Kether Donahue) sent to interview the dignitaries and celebrants finds herself having to deal with disaster as anyone who takes a swim, drinks water or eats fish, starts breaking out in disfiguring skin blisters. The hospital is soon overwhelmed by patients of a viscous flesh eating parasite that has got into the food chain. It is down to the town dumping steroid saturated chicken waste in the Bay, a fact known but concealed by the mayor. With patients literally eaten inside out, often tongue first, the stories of the few survivors are captured in fragments on bits of cam-corder footage by a team who have uncovered the truth behind a cover up of the events three years after the tragedy. Not a movie to watch right before eating seafood, but very well delivered and unlike many such features, all too possible. Directed by Barry Levinson, best known for Robin Williams’s classic movie, Good Morning Vietnam. Arthur Chappell

I dislike found footage technique movies. The Bay reiterates the question: What happened to Barry Levinson's career? From winning an Oscar to this?

@celticeagle but one that seems frightfully likely to happen

@arthurchappell ....Yes, it does. And I don't really want to keep reading or seeing it on TV. Ugh! So many stories have that as the storyline.

Now this sounds like a true horror story. After reading about the water that was contaminated in Michigan, this hits home for everyone. I will sure check this movie out. Thanks for this review.

This movie sounds scary because it could be real. I have to think if I want to see it or not.

that's the kind of situation that is just plausible enough to be believable

I'm sure I've seen this, but I can't have enjoyed it much because I don't remember, except for vague images in my head. :)
