My Two Cents Worth

Almost half of eligible people in the US did not vote. About 25% each voted for both Clinton and Trump. So it leaves the rest to have voted for the third party and really screwed up what was already a mess. Too bad cause now they pay the penalty. Clinton won the popular vote, a lot of good it did her. Have you women thought about your health care now? Many things will happen when Trump reverses the Obama Care. The right to health care goes out the window and sets women back 40 years. Pence does not have a good record as far as reproductive and health for women. He closed the only Planned Parenthood clinic in Scott County, Indiana. Replacing the Affordable Care Act is going to take a long time to implement and what do women do during that time? Trump also wants to nominate pro-life judges to over turn Roe v. Wade. This may not concern some women on here but how about their daughters? I totally agreed with Clinton's idea to keep Obama Care and just tweak it to better meet the needs of women and healthcare recipients. Now who knows what we will get. Did you see in the news where so many were out in the streets last night protesting with "He is not our president!" People in Seattle, Portland, San Jose, Tempe Arizona, Chicago, NYC, and several other locals all unhappy with the outcome. Those people can thank those who voted for third parties for not having the president they want in office in January. Thanks people! Not!

First off, he can't do away with the healthcare currently in place. He can change parts but from what they said he just can't make it disappear, It was just a small percentage who voted third party....it's the Clinton non-voters who got T elected. None of us can say what will happen now - He has never mentioned us seniors...what's he going to do for us?

But, he has Pence on board and he is one who closed down the Planned Parenthood in Indiana. That kind of thought can hurt a lot of people. Yes, non-voters did the trick. I just think it stupid to vote for people who don't have a chance when voters surely knew it was going to be a close call. I don't think they cared. All we can do now is wait and see if Trump has more integrity and thought for the nation than he showed in his campaign. It should be interesting.

@TheHorse That is a darn good question...I have not heard him once utter the words Social Security or Senior Citizens.

even if those who voted for the third party had voted for clinton I doubt it would have been enough, the bigger issue, as I see it, was the huge number of those who simply didnt vote!

I will never understand why such a system exists by which someone can get more votes and lose. Our voting system has the same flaw, which seriously needs to be addressed.

The only thing I will address here is the Obamacare/healthcare. My premiums rose last year and I got worse coverage, this year my premiums again rose by $76 per paycheck. I can't afford these increases. I'm sick of paying for crappy coverage while my payments help pay for others to have better healthcare than my family that pays for it. Because the 2 companies that my husband and I work for, we can't go on either's insurance as our employers pay more than 50% of our coverage. My husbands premiums were raised for him alone by $85 a pay check. That's an increase in my house hold by $161 a check, we are both paid every 2 weeks. That's $4,186 a year more that we will be paying, that's a lot of money. That's just our premiums, not to mention deductibles if we go see a doctor. I don't know what the answer is, but healthcare costs shouldn't fall onto the backs of hardworking Americans to cover everyone else. I'm sick of all the freebies. They aren't free, someone pays for them, that would be people like me. Free healthcare, free contraceptives, free abortions, sorry I'm against it. Not paying for healthcare causes me to pay a large penalty on my taxes, because some genius thought it would be a great thing to write it into the tax code. So I have no chose but to find other things to cut out of my budget so that others can be blessed with all the freebies that Obamacare has to offer. And that is, my 2 cents worth!!!

@celticeagle, Thank you. I'm hoping since my husbands changes will happen next month and mine will happen in January that it will be a little easier than both happening in the same month.

I certainly hope that the new resim makes some changes to health care that help people. I'm sorry this has become so tough for you and your husband. Thanks for you two cents.

You stated the other big issue in your post. Almost half of registered American voters did not vote at all.

Don't blame the mess on the voters...blame it on the non voters....the media. Then roll up your sleeves and make it work. Assigning blame and complaining accomplishes nothing.

That is where it lies. Bad mistake. Assigning blame and complaining does make me feel good though. And, hoped for a discussion on what might happen now instead of directing blame at me for giving my opinion and stating facts.

@sharon6345 ........Simply infuriates me. We had a chance to tell that man, by our voting, that we didn't care for his ways and now we will be putting up with him for four years, maybe even eight. I hope he does something good for us. Fingers are crossed.

I'm guilty of voting 3rd party but I sure was in hopes since so many supposedly didn't want either of the other 2 that enough others would do so and turn our country on it's heads when one of the major candidates didn't win. Just a stupid thought I guess. I would have voted Hillary otherwise and I sure understand why so many are upset since she did get more votes than Trump.

Maybe people that voted for third parties wanted them to win Blaming the result on those that voted for their chosen candidate is weird Maybe the non voters now moaning have to take some blame

I think voting for someone you know doesn't have a chance is weird. Those who didn't vote at all are on my list now. Grrrr!
