An old favorite done in a new way

November 11, 2016 9:17pm CST
It's that time of year again for me to get into a baking mood. I know my family are patiently yet anxiously awaiting when the mood will strike, lol. So I figure why not start it off this weekend. Im going to surprise them with pineapple upside down cake. Only Im doing it a different way this time and trying it in yes you guessed it the crock pot. I done an angel food cake one time and it turned surprisingly well so hope I get the same results this time. The recipe I found seem to be pretty easy. But since it's being done in the crock pot instead of putting the brown sugar, pineapple and cherries at the bottom like a traditional pineapple upside down cake is, you put everything on the top toward the end of the cooking time. So we'll see how this one goes.

i think putting the sugar, pineapple and cherries on top is much better. how long does it take to bake in a crock pot versus an oven? is the texture the same? how do you avoid it sticking to the pot?

The directions I found said about 2 hours in the crock pot and it said to grease the pot before cooking it.

I think that a cake made in an oven takes less time than in a crock pot. I like to use my oven.

The crockpot is my favorite appliance and I'm always looking for new recipes and ways to use it.

I've never tried using my crock pot in this way. I would be worried if I made a cake in it because even after washing the pot well, it might still smell of curry and onions and savory stuff.
