Good morning, what was your favorite toys or games growing up.
for me living in the depression years I for one did not have any.
But for the games was shooting marbles. This was one of my favorites.
I remember had a bag full of marbles and a fine shooter.
We make a hole in the ground.Line up the marbles and use your shooter to hit one of them and get it in the hole. This was fun.For the girls did not like to use the shooter for it was hard for them. They use their hands to get the marble in.
Then the winner get to keep the marbles/Depend how many they get in.
Once the marbles are gone from the surface. That was the end of the game.
Have you ever shoot marbles in the bunny hole. That what is called.
Favorites toys there?the bunny hole was for the girls.
For us we made a big ring of circle.Place the marbles in it and shoot the marbles from there.I am sure someone here must have played this.

Vince still has a big bag of marbles. They had different names according to their markings and colours. There were tombolas and cats' eyes and others but as I didn't play I don't remember them all. Skipping and playing with yo-yos were popular from time to time too.

I have played this when I was a child. Thanks for reminding me of shooting marbles. I never continued to play a particular game for a long time. I would finish playing marbles and then jump to playing cricket. Then there would be a fight and we would start playing hide and seek. Or we simply threw stones in an opn field to see whose stone goes the farthest. As of toys, I enjoyed playing with those hotwheels cars. Ah, those days! Thanks for bringing up the topic.

Marbles were so much fun to play. My brother and I each had our own bag of marbles and I remember cats eyes being a great marble to have? Wonder if kids would have fun playing marbles today (if they could tear themselves away from video games)

My mother, and grandmother when they were alive would tell about the depression era, and how my mother would play stick ball a lot.

Sindy was my favourite toy. She was a better {British} version of Barbie. And Tiny Tears. And my doll's pram. And my Raggedy Andy. My ragdoll. My bike. And my imagination ... I was always making up stories and games and role-playing scenarios.
