A day when I never expected much to happen threw up a few surprises for me. I had no appointments to keep so I had a long lie-in and got up at 9 AM, only to find my glasses were not on the window sill by my bed where I usually keep them. I found them after a few minutes searching down beside the bed as they had somehow slipped off the sill, possibly caught by the curtains as I drew them open. Fortunately they were undamaged. I had no reason to go out for today in itself but I realized that I needed cash from a cashpoint to renew by weekly bus ticket tomorrow – the ticket for this week expires today and if I don’t get the cash out today to buy a new ticket on the bus tomorrow I’ll have to walk to the cash point while getting it now will allow me to travel to the cash point by bus. In sorting that out I visited the library, had a quick pint in a pub, and got a little shopping in too. Back home I found that the lady who runs the writing workshop I attend each Sunday can’t make it tomorrow so I volunteered to run it for her. I have run such groups n Manchester. She agreed so I spent the evening preparing exercises for the writers for tomorrow. Arthur Chappell

@changjiangzhibin89 a writing group involves writing and sharing stories / poems with other writers and getting constructive criticism back

@Jessicalynnt we compare notes on our writing activity, share details on publishers and competitions we are aware of and follow writing exercises set by the moderators, a bit like your own poetry challenge exercises in many ways - the results are often very good

This sounds very positivevand perhaps a step towards running some courses of your own.British Pub Signs would be an interesting topic to people I think.

I haven't been to our writing group for a while. We always seemed to be away on the meeting days but I hope to go next week.
