Seemstress' use sewing machines and overlockers, needles and pins, scissors and tape measures, invisible pen and thread . . . the tools of the trade. Lawn Bowling Umpires use all kinds of gadgets of which I only know a few of their names, but this week-end I had to master most of them. A long tape measure that extends over 30 meters. A short measure tape 6" Bowls Calipers Wedges - they are the black gum guard looking things nylon/string cord measure (white box thingy) Telescopic measure is an umpire-quality measuring device which can extend up to 39 inches and includes calipers - this looks like a car radio aerial. @Ladyduck asked me if I took a photo of my bag of trick, which I did not, so I put together a collage to show you all the nifty things I got to work with at Lawn Bowls this week-end as umpire!

Wow! That is quite the little outfit. All those different 'thingys'. Thanks for sharing. I am always intrigued at the almost completely new vocabulary which centres on each different sport/hobby/pastime.

Thank you for posting this interesting description Lany. I have to ask to my Mom where she put the bowling tools of my father. I hope she has not thrown everything.

I love the customised briefcase with recesses to hold each item, which I assume is a foam insert.
