What's In Your Purse?

A purse or bag, I believe, is a good reflection of our personality and life. We can tell a lot about someone’s work or roles with a glimpse of the purse they carry on a daily basis. Take me for example. Aside from the usual necessities, like wallet, cellphone, and keys, I also carry a few toiletries and makeup in my purse to freshen myself up during lunch break so I still look presentable at work (don’t want to scare anyone as the Halloween is over!). I also carry my planner which would mean I need lots of reminders as I am already forgetful, haha! And I always have my scientific calculator. As an accountant, I have been carrying a calculator for over 10 years now. I don’t know why but I just prefer using my own calculator over that of the one provided by my work, or the built-in one in my computers. I know that we all have distinct or unique or even weird items in our purses I think me carrying a lighter even though I have never been a smoker is weird, but that is okay. Who knows, maybe someday we find ourselves in a survival situation ala-Bear Grylls and I will not have to rub sticks to make fire.

I used to carry a huge purse when I was working. I could take all manner of things with me. Even put my lunch in there and a change of clothes if I wanted to.Everything but the kitchen sink. Now that I am retired I carry a little purse with very little.

That's the story of my life now. I am usually carrying totes for work because I also keep food in there.

@Raine38 .....I have actually looked online for a small kitchen sink charm I could carry on my key chain. I thought it would get a good laugh when or if anyone commented on all the stuff I used to carry in my purse. Oddly too that usually it was a man who made the comment.

@celticeagle Look at Etsy. And yes, that would be a statement piece and a good conversation starter.

I often have a book of puzzles in my bag then if my husband gets delayed or starts talking to someone, I have something to do and I don't get cross about waiting for ages.

Very interesting! If I know I will be waiting, like in a doctor's office or in a government office, I sometimes bring my crochet stuff.

I also always have a mini bottle of hand sanitizer. Sometimes I have both and sanitizer and wet wipes.

What an interesting post! I recently downsized to a smaller purse which contains a wallet, keys, cell phone, makeup, pain meds, and batteries for my hearing aid. Nothing too weird!

Good for you, for being able to downsize. I know I could also downsize my "pack", and maybe file or trash the receipts floating around my purse. One of these days I will have to clean it out and see if there is something I can leave out so I will not have to lug around a huge bag.
