The Dance - Some time back before modern prostheses were available, medical doctors of the day would provide wooden eyes to people who had unfortunately lost a real eye of their own. Dan, the cowboy, was one of those with a wooden eye. It rather matched his real eye and the rest of his grizzled face. Nonetheless, Dan was otherwise a regular fellow, fond of guzzling beer with his buddies, sitting up all night long at poker playing, and, even though he was as ugly as an old mushroom, he really enjoyed attending the occasional dances in town. Dan spotted a pretty gal at one of those dances and decided that he should test his luck and ask her to dance with him. This lady was full-figured and all, but she was exceedingly short. Dan figured that, as ugly as Dan was, she might just agree to dance with him. Dan walked up to her and asked, "Will you dance with me, lady?" The gal smiled ear to ear, jumped up out of her chair and yelled out, "Would I? Would I? Wooden-eyed Dan scowled and shouted back, "Shorty ! Shorty ! (Note: An old, old joke, but I remembered it - and that is quite amazing, now that I think of it.) Images from Pixabay dot com - Collage Gus Kilthau

@LadyDuck - Ms Anna - Sometimes those old jokes are more fun when you next remember them. The Pixabay choice of pix were lucky finds. -Gus-

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - I do not know who came up with that funny story, but I heard it so many years ago that I cannot even remember when it was that I first heard the tale. It was somewhat different, so I fixed the language such that not too many people would be offended. I kinda go for funny tales that turn on the wording pretty much. Sort of like the story told to me by a co-worker at the Pima Indian Reservation at Sacaton, Arizona some years back. This story he told me was how the Pima Indian tribe came to be named "Pima." Seems like this Pima Indian was wandering down the trail one day when he was approached by a group of fierce Spanish conquistadores. Their leader asked the Indian fellow, "What kind of Indian are you?" The Indian replied in his native language, "Pimage." meaning "I don't know." And so, the Pima are the "I don't know tribe." So said my native friend and co-worker. Down the road from Sacaton is a national preserve named "Casa Grande (Large house.) I went over there to visit and see the ancient adobe (mud and straw plaster) building remains. The Indians who had lived there centuries ago were forebears of the Pima and were named Ho Ho Kam (or the like) which means "The ones who disappeared." When I got back home from my work time in Arizona, my bride asked me what I had done during the hours I was not actually working while in Arizona. I told her that I spent my time with the "I Don't Know Indians" and in visiting the Casa Grande abode of the "Indians Who Disappeared." I am not certain what it was she picked up to throw at me for such a report. - Gus

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - I just now remembered another funny story that sort of connects to the Pima Indian tale - An Indian guy was walking along the trail and, suddenly, here came a bunch of fierce Spanish conquistadores. "Indian, where did you hide the gold?" "Oh, fierce Spanish warrior, I swallowed it - but please don't sue me." -Gus-

@Ceerios Funny lol. I always like play on words jokes too. Do you remember F Troop and the Heckarewe tribe? So clever and no smut or violence in sight.
