Are you/ your children ever bored?

One thing I didn’t look forward to as a parent was that moan of ‘I’m bored, what shall I do?’ from my offspring. I can certainly remember saying this to my Mum when I was about 8 and she would have to try and come up with suggestions or she would ask me to do jobs for her – mending for example, or meal preparation, or polishing candlesticks, or washing the car. But so far (Big One is now 10) I have never had to deal with this.
I never have a minute to spare so I was almost looking forward to having an assistant. Someone who could wash my car, or do some mending, or help me to list things on ebay. But so far she’s always busy! And not just glued to a screen either but reading (usually 3 or 4 books on the go at once) or drawing, or writing stories. And cooking every Wednesday evening (her decision). And of course there’s homework and music practice.
Even the offer of pocket money doesn’t tempt her much at the moment as she doesn’t really feel the need for much and if there’s something she would like but doesn’t have she consoles herself by writing a story about it!
Maybe I should advertise for an ‘intern’ to get work experience in ‘household management’.

I do not recall my kids being bored, but they were also readers. That makes a ton of difference.

Today's children usually have a lot of outside the home activites, not much time to be bored.

Ask her to write a story about how tired mum gets having to do everything around the house without much help. Maybe she'll choose to help out a little bit all of her own volition, giving you time to achieve some boredom!

She sounds delightfully able to keep her self busy and contented
