Pain In The Neck In More Ways Than 1

I know I have complained about this before. While my health is very good I do have my aches and pains. For many months now it's been my neck. I wake up almost every morning early because my neck can't take one more minute laying on my pillow.
I have spent so much money trying to find a pillow that will make my neck feel better. I have a feather pillow, a foam pillow, a memory foam pillow, and a gel pillow. I have them stacked up on a small table next to my bed, and often I wake up in the middle of the night to change pillows. It's getting ridiculous.
I have probably looked at every pillow know to man these last 6 months or so. And I have come to the conclusion they will say anything to get you to buy their 50 or 100 dollar pillow. My most expensive one to this point is about 40 bucks. I have a gel pillow that is originally 169 bucks but got if for 30 bucks on sale. A very good deal if the darn thing helped. Alas it doesn't really help.
So I guess I live with my neck pain, or go to the doctor who will try to convince me to have surgery, not happening. Or just keep buying pillows until one actually does what they advertise. Wouldn't that be a surprise. And if I ever actually find one that does what it says I will shout it from the rooftops.

@fishtiger58 My husband almost could no more turn his head and now he is fine. I had a problem with my right shoulder, I refused surgery but the therapist was able to recover the use of my shoulder and arm almost at 100%.

Yup no surgery for me I don't care what they say. I may have to look into some type of therapy however.

@LadyDuck Now that I could live with. I just don't want to get cut open. I hear Dianne's hubby had neck surgery some weeks ago and still can't use his arms. Yikes I am to young for that.

@fishtiger58 They only would do that if there's a need . But if not , they can perhaps tell you to have some physical theraphy on your neck or a brace perhaps /

I sure hope so, but I'm afraid if I go in to see a doc they will want to cut me open. I am so not up for that.

@SIMPLYD Maybe so I am going to try a few things before I go see a doctor. I"m pretty sure it's muscular not an injury.

Have you been to a chiropractor?. I used to go to one for my knee pain until I realized I was throwing my money away and had the knee replacement. My best friend has shoulder problems because of age and she is going to go to water aerobics with me.. hope you find help soon...

@PainsOnSlate I think so too. I went to one in my late teens early 20's for my bad back and it was wonderful. I always felt brand new when leaving there.

@fishtiger58 They can't make you have surgery and it might be something that can be fixed quite simply. If your spine is out of alignment, seeing a chiropractor could be very beneficial.

@JudyEv Well when I was in my late teens early 20's I did see a chiropractor and he told me I had a couple of vertabraes that would slip out very slightly and he would work them back in and that would last a few months before they would slip out again. But haven't been to one in many many years. Even my hubby the other day said it was time to go back.

I used to have similar problems, except my pain was in my right shoulder. It bothered me every morning in bed and it would last for hours after I'd get out of bed. I also needed a new pillow and while I didn't buy a lot of pillows, I shopped for a lot and none of them seemed good enough. I finally found a pillow on QVC. It's memory foam but very fluffy. When I lay down on it, it gives lots of support to my head, neck and shoulders and my pain has not returned. It surprised me because I didn't really expect much from it but it's wonderful. I really hope you find the right pillow for you because I do know how frustrating that kind of pain can be.

@fishtiger58 They are called "Set of 2 Memory Foam Pillows w/Rayon from Bamboo by Lori Greiner". If you go to qvc.com and put that in, you can see a video that describes the pillows. I can't tell you what a difference these pillows have made. I'm only using one now but I have the second one for when I'm reading in bed and I usually put it under my knees for support.

Do you happen to remember what that pillow was called. I would rather give another go with another pillow than possibly face surgery

Besides going to the doctor, have you considered other alternative, such as acupuncture, homeopathy or others? I would not choose to go for surgery unless it's really necessary. As for neck pain, I don't think I'd go for doctors.
Hope you will feel better very soon.

How about something warm on your neck, they have scarves that you put in the microwave to warm up and then wrap around your neck, might help. Though it will cool off obviously during the night.

I have a lot of issues with my back, but I think that Yoga is slowly beginning to help. Now if you had asked me yesterday I would have a whole different story!!

Yoga hmmmm interesting. I just want to sleep the whole night and wake up without this pain. I will try anything once but I just don't want surgery. I'm afraid to go to the doc for fear that's what they are going to say.
