Brazen Thieves Dismantle Swing Set to Steal it

I've just read a post by @n.J about a donation box being stolen from a church while people were attending a service. It reminded me that on our local Facebook site this morning, someone reported that a child's swing set had been stolen from their backyard at about 6am that morning. The woman said the set would have had to have been dismantled for it to be shifted. Thieves seem to be becoming more and more brazen.
A white utility (pickup) was seen nearby around that time. It isn't the first time a white ute has been reported cruising slowly round the town. At the moment, anyone driving a white ute is probably getting some very suspicious looks. The photo shows the playground in the town which is one of the biggest free playgrounds in Australia.

Some people just don't care. They have no morals. I hope they find out who did it soon. What a beautiful playground, all the children must love that place.

@Happy2BeMe Now if we'd been trying to steal it we would have come across a rusted bolt that wouldn't undo.

@arthurchappell We had a situation a few years ago where one lady waited in a line for several hours at a walmart near here to get her child the last of whatever electronic game was popular then. Someone else followed her out of the parking area and hit her over the head to make off with that game. I never did hear whether they found the thief or not or what happened to the customer that paid for the item in the first place.

That playground in the photo you posted is the neatest playground I have ever seen! I would love to be able to take my son there to play!
That is horrible both of the thefts you wrote about!
Someone taking apart a swingset to steal it is nuts. They are either taking it for the scrap metal which will only get them a few bucks..or they are taking it for their children. I would love to have a nice swingset for my kids but I can't afford it and there is a park right down the street I took them to every day when they were little. I would never steal something just because I couldn't afford my own. Theives make me sick!

I think the swingset is going to be a Christmas gift for their own kids. The big park was erected when an old lady left a million dollars in her will providing it was spent on a playground. It has proven a great thing for the town with extra coffee shops opening up to cater for the parents who bring their kids to the playground. School groups often come there for an outing or for their Christmas wind-ups.

LOL! Several years ago we had some neighbors across the street from us that we talked to just about every day. (The neighbors we have now we have talked to them one time and never bothered talking to them again. Waste of space, if you really want to know.)
Anyway, when they were moving out of their house they had a moving truck parked in their drive for three or four days while they packed. One morning when I got up they had a second moving truck parked on our side of the street. I thought it was a bit odd that they didn't park it closer to their house, so I stepped out onto our front deck to take a look and see what they were doing.
All I saw was that they had started taking apart their trampoline, getting it ready to move. Then I realized the two guys who were taking the trampoline apart weren't some of those neighbors, so I stepped across the street to talk to them.
The two guys almost had the trampoline all packed up to move when one of them turned to me and told me they had forgotten a tool to remove the last bolt from the trampoline frame, so they were going to run to the hardware store and pick up whatever they needed, but they'd be right back. (Pretty and I had a trampoline, too, so I knew the same bolts were used on the entire frame.... I actually thought they just didn't like me trying to talk to them while they worked, so headed back to my own yard.)
Right after the two guys drove off, the neighbor came out of his house and walked over to me, looking at the neat packages of parts for his trampoline. He grinned at me and thanked me for getting the trampoline almost ready for them to load. I told him the guys he had hired to tear it down had actually just left but they would be right back. The neighbor kind of chuckled at me and told me I was funny and started pulling the last bolt out of the frame.
I helped him load it into the moving truck and I ask him why he thought he was going to need a second moving truck. (We had discussed how much room he would need for everything so there was really no need for a second truck.) He ask me what was I talking about, he only needed one truck.
He really thought I had taken the trampoline apart for him... We stood there and talked about what I had seen that morning and he called the cops. I gave descriptions of the two guys and their truck...
The neighbor and I decided I had come out just in time to keep their trampoline from being stolen that morning.
I am amazed at the big brass ones some people have, Judy! They must make a godawful racket when they walk! SMH!

@DaddyEvil I would be that gullible. It wouldn't occur to me that they were stealing the furniture.

Some people will steal anything. Last week my neighbour was telling me that they had previously had their ornate metal gates stolen.
It really doesn't take long to dismantle a swing-set though - I know because I was just given one on Freegle last week and it only took a few minutes to take it apart and carry it away and I wasn't even in a hurry!

@JudyEv Yes there are several organisations, like Freegle and Freecycle, through which people can offer stuff they no longer want for someone else to take it away. It's meant to save stuff from going to landfill, but you'd be amazed at the things that go back and forth. I have given and received literally hundreds of things since I joined about 13 years ago.

That's true. Our town isn't huge but at the moment there is a small group who are doing a lot of stealing round the place.

Whoever has this white ute is really preying on the town. There are continual posts on the local FB site saying where it has been seen etc. Then there are two guys who walk around town whistling. If dogs bark at them they know not to try to break in to that particular house.

What a ridiculous thing to do. Do they think they can sell it and make a lot of money? I hope they are caught.

That is a wonderful playground in your photo. I am amazed by how brazen thieves have gotten. Here in the U.S. it has become common for them to steal packages right off people's front porches ... especially around Christmas. Horrible!

@JudyEv - It is hard to believe there are so many people around the world who steal things and don't seem to feel bad about it at all.

That is brazen. Those people have no conscience to do that. I hope they find the people who took the swing set and the donation box for the church. I'm just shaking my head.
Beautiful picture of the playground. Where is that playground located?
