How MyLot helped make me $120.36 in one day yesterday! (and a PS)

Heh. Those who know me know what this means. I sent another pair of vintage loudspeakers home with their happy owner yesterday. This one was a pair of Wharfdales--heavy, sand filled big boys. My back is sore from carrying them down to their owner's car. I think I have another pair coming in soon. I have to call the owner of that pair and let him know I have space now. I always have my own projects going on here, but I like to have only one "outside" project going on at a time. PS It just started pouring outside. I am happy.

You don't explain how MyLot helped you. I once knew a guy who was very proud of his two concrete drainpipes he had painted black and fitted with (I think) 12" speakers. They were certainly a 'feature' and the demonstration he gave was impressive (though I couldn't really tell whether they were as great as he made out).

Well, the speaker restoration earned me $120. The rest is for the mathematically inclined to figure out.

Sand? I know the washing machine has a concrete block in it...

Ah, that makes sense. Apparently the theory is that if speakers are better "anchored," the sound is better.

@TheHorse ok, makes sense. Except for those big speakers suspended either side of a sound stage...

Nice to have a inside project when it is raining outside. Those did turn out nicely.

I'm still amazed by the quality of the walnut veneer on these old speakers.

@celticeagle They really did. But not to worry. You can still get black speaers that cost only only twice as much and sound fully half as good.

@vandana7 My computer does that when I have too Many windows open. Or on of those "unresponsive scripts" is operating. I delete my cookies and reboot. But it sounds like your issue is different.

@TheHorse I'm really not sure what is more popular here .. although I see a lot of vintage being sold in second hand shops ..

I'm glad the owner was happy with how they looked. Is vintage gear better than contemporary gear in Australia?

Thanks, and thanks. I've got this speaker thing down to a science. Or art. Or whatever. I really enjoy it. I hope we get more rain. We had some sprinkles today. Are you getting rain as well?

Yep. He found me via Craigslist. In this case, I never owned the speakers. I just restored them for their owner.

Well, $120 of my earnings came from the speaker restoration. Yes, I was bouncing back and forth between reading student papers, MyLotting a bit, and finishing up the speakers.

Those are some good looking speakers. I'd probably just do one job at time too. Easier that way.

Yes, I want to give each pair my full attention. Plus I don't have a lot of space here.
