Remember the money I saved on my shoes?

This morning I told you about the money I saved on my new Easy Spirit sneakers. Now I'll tell you about the money I had to spend due to my husband's brute strength!
Our guest room has a triple window - one normal size window flanked by two smaller windows. The room gets the sun all afternoon until sunset. One thing the sun does is to fade things, even mini-blinds....that statement will come into play shortly.
OK, so I noticed that the window ledges needed to be vacuumed. I pulled up the smaller blind and did my thing. When I tried to lower the blind it refused to go down. I tried my best to no avail. So I called my husband in and he tried (like it was going to work for him LOL!) and it was the same.
He decided he would take the blind down and try to fix it. Wrong move! He tried to detach the blind from the bracket and it was still winning the battle. He wasn't going to let that happen so he used brute force and broke the blinds.
Now, since they had the full sun for 3 1/2 years I knew that it wouldn't make sense to order just the one blind since most likely it would not match the others. Therefore, I had to order three new blinds and they are coming slow boat I think - delivery is anticipated Dec. 31st.
He accepted full responsibility and I think when they arrive I'll tell him that's his gift for next Christmas!
Photo is mine, prior to the 'accident'. Actually, that photo was taken shortly after we moved, therefore, nothing on the walls, etc.

Seems you never really get ahead. You save money in one place and then you have to spend it somewhere. That is how it always seems to work.

You got that right. It's part of life...but I need to keep reminding him of this for a few days just to get my point across LOL.

We know what this is like. WE have wood blinds and the ropes are now old and deteriorated. Although we are replacing these as needed, it is a disappointed they are not lasting like G'mothers. Hers were up for 60 years, but she said rope was really rope back then...hmm. Maybe!
