First thing we did today was make refrigerator soup-

Soup, refrigerator soup, vegetable soup

The first thing we did today was make some refrigerator soup. Simple to do and most here do this too! We added whatever we have in the refrigerator: garlic, onions, red peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, spices, tortellini, lentils and bits of this and that to a pot filled with water and herbs. House smells so nice and the sun is streaming through the kitchen windows. Will not complain about what is wrong with the world, but instead enjoy the hot soup and pretend the world is perfect. Just for today. For those who are thinking about asking: No, there will be no meat added to this soup. This is for our vegetarian/vegan crowd. Make it a good today!

I assumed since you said refrigerator soup you eat it cold, but then you say you will enjoy the hot soup.

It is made with what is in the refrigerator. Old school thing taught by g'parents. Maybe I should included those details.

It sounds like those leftover pot lucks ma used to make on Saturdays. Your soup sounds good, I think I'll have a lentil soup shortly.

Soup is something we all enjoy here and we try to make a pot at the beginning of each week. Whatever is left in the fridge determines what is in the pot.

Yes, we all do it at some point. It is the best way to use up what is left in the fridge.

That sounds different but nice. I've made cold cucumber soup but that's about it. Just reread and you eat this hot. So read the comments and discovered the real reason it's called refrigerator soup. That's a good name for it.

@PatZAnthony I would have understood garbage soup - not that I've heard it before but it's pretty self-explanatory. :)

I usually do that in winter. But I add broth as I´m not vegan nor vegetarian.
