Just two lines to let you know that today we will be without the Internet for almost all the day. I am going to the mall to see if I can get a wi-fi line there and continue to read your discussions. If they have our same problem, I will be back tomorrow morning. Hope you are having a nice day.

You are right, I am at the Mall because everything is down at home, I had something to buy and now I am at a cafe with my tablet.

I am addicted Barry, I am at a nice cafe in the Mall and I am spending a bit of time here waiting for the phone, the TV and the Internet to come back at home.

We stayed about 2 hours at the mall and then I received a message from our providers informing that the line at home was back.

The provider had announced a line cut from noon up to 6 PM, but they were able to finish the job by 5 PM.

@moffittjc This is what usually happens, they take a margin so that they are sure to be ready by the scheduled time. I was happy to have our Internet, phone and TV back.

@LadyDuck Wow, they actually finished the job early! Imagine that! I doubt that would have happened here in the U.S. If they would have said 6 PM, it would mean you would be lucky to have the service restored by 9 PM. haha

I thought we were the country with the worst internet. No offense, but nice to see you guys still have issues also. I should always remember the truth is always some where in the middle. Glad you did get it fixed or appears you were able to get it fixed.

It was not an Internet problem. They are moving all the Internet lines on optic fibers and they have changed all the cables during the afternoon. As it only took 4 hours I say that they did a great job.

@crossbones27 Yes, they are offering a much speeder connection now, but to do that they had to add the fiber optic cables. They had informed all the resident of this area about 10 days ago. They are usually pretty serious here.

They had to add the optical fiber cables and to do that, it was necessary to cut the Internet, phones and TV in all our area. Everything was back working by 5 pm.

@Jessicalynnt Fiber is good by fragile, now we have the choice, we can keep our actual line with copper cables or switch to fiber. We are waiting from feed back from a neighbor.

Sometimes the heavy snow will cover our satellite and we lose WiFi in the winter, not often but enough to be uncomfortable. I hope yours settles down soon,.

It's not the bad weather here, they are replacing the old copper cables with new fiber optic cables, we were informed about the problem. I am using the wifi in the mall, but soon the line should be back at home.

Some people are so fortunate to always have internet service. In my home area there are no reliable providers, so I travel into the city (my next home) and spend a few hours there...for the internet! Well, we will see you when we see you (^_^)

See you tomorrow. A day without internet is not that much. Last time I had a problem with the line, it lasted quite a week... and after a day I connected the smartphone to the computer as a tethered modem. It was not authorized by the cell company, but I could not resist. Good luck with the wifi at the mall.

@topffer For the moment I do not move from here. I have seen they were putting cables underground in front of our small road when we went outside. I know that they work until 5 PM, so I will wait another thirty minutes and then we can go home. I almost sure the line is already back.

As you can see, the wifi at the mall is working and I just received a message by mail that our line will be back in about one hour. I am very well here at the cafe, it's almost a shame to go back home.

@BelleStarr It is too dangerous to dig a hole in the middle of the road during the night. Poor those who work in the middle of the road! There were 4 policemen on the road yesterday afternoon to allow the cars pass one at a time. This is a narrow road, it was not possible to close half of the road.

Yes, the whole network in our area was out because they had to install the new fiber optic cables. So they have to disconnect all the old ones.

It was back by 5 PM Janet, they had assured that they were able to finish their job by 6 PM. They risked a riot if they were late, all the TVs are over Internet here.

@jaboUK This was decided about 10 years ago, no more cable TV, almost all the TVs are over Internet. Those who want can buy and install a dish on their roof, but here in the middle of the mountains the reception is bad, very bad.
