Found in the Street

Car part

You can find all sorts of stuff laying in the street, aside from fridges and washing machines, and most of it never missed. I feel certain that, at some stage, this large lump from a car must have been noticed by its absence. It didn't look particularly damaged, so I don't think it was knocked off in a shunt, so it is anyone's guess as to how it get there. It had been laying on the pavement for a few days, but has now disappeared. Possibly the local council gathered it up on one of their routine sweeps.

You won't find much things laying around here especially recyclables since there are lots of scavengers ready to sell them off to junk shops for their next meal. Perhaps the screws of that plastic bumper came loose due to vibration, if it were an older car, the driver would hear the "clunk" cause it's metal

My ideas on how it got there have changed after reading some of the comments and there are scrappers on the prowl around here, so maybe they gathered it up

I am surprised that the owner did not pick it up, it does not seem damaged at all.

@Ronrybs It is possible that it was stolen and lost.

I have been wondering, as there is a car repair place not a million miles away, so maybe it was stolen from there?

It is beyond me why the car owner threw away the intact part from a car.

It is not the kind of size you easily misplace, to be sure

It is intriguing how some of the more unusual objects suddenly appear.

I have seen many bumpers and stuff in the streets, most of the time it is because of accidents and they are just hauled off to the side until someone picks it up. The best are hubcaps, my brother used to collect them haha

People collect weird things, but hub caps? Only place I've seen a collection is nailed to a bar room wall!

We have a man who walks round the village making sure the streets are clear. I think he does it for free.

That might have been a salvageable front end so maybe a scrapper retrieved it.

Too true, I've seen them every now and again out and about. That is probably why people leave washing machines and the like on the kerb

Might as well just leave it there. Why not?

A lot of rubbish just gets left where it drops, but when it comes to big items someone had to move them there.
