A Year With MyLot?

I just looked at by bio here at myLot and it said I joined one year ago. Really? It’s been a year since I joined?
Then I thought back. I had come over from the Big B after much urging from @much2say. I had fought the temptation hoping the Big B would come back to life. But I soon saw the writing on the wall and took the leap. Not long after, the Big B simply wasn’t. No announcement, just a statement saying they were no longer and thanking all for being a part of the Big B when trying to log on.
I guess I was one of the lucky ones on the Big B. I got paid nearly everything I was supposed to receive. I know many had left with ruffed feathers. I did not blame them one bit. But this is not about the Big B.
After I made the move, I was glad I did. I found many former members from the Big B had migrated here by the time I got to myLot. So it was “hello again” to many. And it was also “hello” to a group of new people I had never met before.
It is a much more relaxed atmosphere here than at the Big B. Over there, a lot of bickering, complaining, bad language and just down right snottiness and rudeness. Not by everyone but just enough to make make it uncomfortable. Much of it from those who felt they had been ripped off.
One sad thing about my move to myLot was there were friends who did not make the move here and was lost. I don’t know if they went to other sites or just gave up with this type of social networking (if that’s what you call this) altogether.
Even though the money is not as large as at the Big B (at least in the beginning there), I’ve enjoyed my stay here. But imagine that. A year has gone by since I joined. Now I’m looking forward to another year here. I thank all who have made my stay here an enjoyable and friendly one. And hats off to the staff for keeping it that way.

yes many of us have been here a long time 10 or plus yrs. a lot moved to the B site when mylot stopped paying for a while and took friends with us. lol. it did pay more over there for a while but because of that, i could see the fall coming. some are never happy with a little and get greedy. so the B site hit the dirt. and we came back to mylot which is even better then it was before we left and brought friends back from there. i think the ones that just dropped out of site got discouraged with all of it. but i am one that goes where i enjoy more.

Yes, I knew there were a lot of people who was with myLot before going to the B, so many have been here a long time. Before the B I was with Yahoo! Voices but only because I belonged to it's predecessor Associated Content. That was another one that bit the dust.

That's good. At the time I was with the B, I was working a lot of 10 hour days six days a week and didn't post a lot.

@JolietJake I'm not sure now when I got my last payment. I was in Europe for much of that last year I guess. I'd just started to post about our trip when they went belly-up.

Three more months and you will have been here a year as well. It does become addicting so I have no worries that you won't make a year here. Then we can say Happy Anniversary to you, too.

It's nice to see myLot payment scheme was back when Bubblews closed down. I also feel a bit sad that I didn't get to keep in touch with all my friends in Bubblews. I am not sure if they know about myLot.
I guess this is also one of the advantages of myLot - not paying too high, so there won't be so many spammers and the site can last longer.
Enjoy your many years with myLot, and I truly hope myLot will always be here with us.

I did not belong to myLot before joining the Big B. I belonged to Yahoo! Voices but only because I joined before it became Yahoo! Voices. Of course, that bit the dust as well.
Hopefully myLot will be here for years to come.

I've been here much longer but only started participating after Bubblews bit the big one. Like you, I was delighted to find old friends here. This is a great, well-run place with a wonderful community. I'm glad you're here too.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary @RichardMeister !
I was one of the unlucky ones at B 
. So thank goodness myLot came back to life - what great timing. I had been at myLot before and we never, ever had the kind of stress we had at B.
I'm glad my "urging" worked 
. . . it's awesome we could continue our friendships here! And yes, there are a few I miss too and cannot find them anywhere (remember Susan - aka upnaway?).
Here's to another year - and hopefully many more!

@RichardMeister Aw well - I felt burned for a while there, but hanging around here made up for it. I was no longer on pins and needles! I think Susan was from Michigan but was living in Florida - had a couple grandsons she adored - and I think her daughter had split from her husband so they were going through some hard times. Yah, keeping in touch via email can be hard sometimes . . . I do like that we have PM system here for the private stuff!

@much2say I just can't place Susan. Of course that was a year ago and it's hard to remember the ones that I wasn't reading all the time. Some of this stuff sounds familiar but I just don't remember.
Yes, having PM is a good way to communicate privately without having to give out email addresses to the world.

Thanks @much2say. Sorry you were among the unlucky ones. I do not remember Susan off hand. I was able to get a couple of email addresses so we could keep in touch, but that seems to have faded, too.

I also came from Bubblews, and I must say that I never encountered any snottiness or rudeness there. Anyway I've been here a couple of months longer than you, and am so glad to have found this site, especially since so many old friends were already here.
It's an extremely well run site and the admin is brilliant. Happy Anniversary to you, let's hope we are all here for many years to come.

@RichardMeister Oh yes, I do remember that, but I thought you meant amongst ourselves. I didn't like it when I got to this site and some people were constantly bubble-bashing - they completely forgot the good times.

I'm glad you didn't encounter any snottiness or rudeness at the Big B. Towards the end nearly every day someone posted something nasty about how they felt about the B. A lot of the time using the F word. And I don't mean just the letter F. I can't remember any of it being directed at me, but just seeing how rude and snotty these post were towards the admin at the B was something else. I really didn't blame them for be upset but they could have curbed the nasty language. And of course I reported them but little good that seemed to do during the last few months.

I too joined this site after migrating over from BB about a year ago! And I'm glad I did, as not only do I love this site, but many of my friends from BB also came over and joined myLot.
