I have had long hair for that past ten to twelve years. (Always been the long haired hippy type.) That's just trimming it every three to four months and letting it grow. And grow it does. Fast and thick. It was about thirty five inches long this past spring.
The last few years I have been more and more house bound and not really taking care of it like I used to. I used to deep condition it once or twice a month. Combed it, massaged the scalp and babied it. Not so the last few years. I would wash it about every two or three days and then brade it.
Over the last few months I have given serious thought to cutting it. Just not sure how short. First I thought maybe just to mid back at first. Then I thought maybe a cute short do would be nice. The last few days I have had the inch to cut, cut, cut it way short.
Today I asked my daughter if she would comb it out for me. She does so every few days. Rebrades it for me. Today I told her she could cut it. She cut it back about thirty two inches. Ya. Quite a change. But, so much easier to care for.
I figure it will grow out again.
What do you do with your hair?

What hair
If you cut really long hair try selling it to a wigmaker or some places take donated hair to make wigs for people with cancer treatment hair loss.

@Hatley .....If I was able to get in and out of the shower I could probably take better care of mine.

Yes, it is a job to take care of. Used to get into my mouth and food when I wore it loose.

@valmnz ....Yes, I loved my thick, soft hair. Loved to run my fingers through it.

I used to keep it short, being winter letting it grow, but if I start getting headaches again I will chop it off for sure

I had heard that too. I was asked several times by people, when they saw how long my hair was, if I got headaches. Never had one! Sorry you do though.

I had really long hair, It was about 28 inches I think and I am the kind of person, if I am going through something really emotional, I do something with my hair. Well, that situation happened and cut all my hair off except most of the front. My hair has been growing really fast. in the last few months it has grown about 5 inches, it is crazy haha Changes are great, my neck felt a lot better after I cut off all my hair.

@celticeagle Well of course, that is what hair does. Unless it is my mom's hair, that takes ages to grow haha

I think you should get it cut to a lenght you feel comfortable with. It will be freeing.

i am also house bound. because of the oxygen thing mostly. so, i just whip it in a pony tail and whack it at a v angle. it obviously works cause no one has said it looked strange. as soon as it grows back to a long length, it aggravates me so bad, i just do it again. easier to color then also. which i need again badly

Well, my daughter did mine. I had it combed back the first day and so yesterday I noticed one side was much longer than the other. Got that taken care of.

That's easy care but long enough for a pony if you wanted.
