Creative Writing Exercise – Small Ads

An exercise set for us at yesterday’s writing group run by Leanne Dempsey was to write a small ad by someone real or imaginary but famous without spelling out who they are, to see if the listeners /readers can guess who it is supposed to be from. This is my contribution, so see if you can tell who this is. Wanted – a containment devise, a fully sealable airtight, watertight lockable storage devise, small and portable, but strong and sturdy. It should be capable of holding just about anything and everything good and decent in life. It can be made of wood, metal, plastic, Tupperware, anything, as long as it can be proofed against my insatiable curiosity. I am warned by the powers that be on high that there could be dire consequences all round if I give in to my weak will and peek inside the box. What happened upon the release of the contents of the Ark Of The Covenant pales into insignificance compared to what happens if I apparently peep into the box I am to take charge of. Of course, I am paying lip services to the word of various prophets and oracles, but I am confident that I can avoid the temptation to open such a present early – yours in eternal hope ….. So, who signs this? Answer Pandora of Greek mythology fame. Arthur Chappell

Very well written, I had to think about your words for a moment and I came up with the name I see on the bottom of your post. Of course, Pandora box.
