Santa's visit with a dying boy....

Yes, we know, there is no such thing as Santa, but tell that to Eric Schmitt-Matzen. He plays Santa at different venues...80 of them per year. He has done this for many years, but this year it was different.
One gig he played in Knoxville, Tennessee was like no other Santa experience.....
He got a call requesting that he visit a sick boy, a terminally ill little boy. He was just 5 and was so happy to see Santa and receive a gift. However, his time on earth was short.
As Santa entered the ICU he had no idea how this would end, but it did end. The little 5-year-old asked about death and Santa answered as best he could. His last questions was, "Santa will you help me?" Santa held onto the boy as life slipped from his young body.
Santa was shaken up as you can imagine, and at this point in the story the tears are probably in your eyes, I know they were in mine when I read this.Just writing this the tears are flowing.
To learn more about Santa and how he dealt with this you can find out in the link provided.

What a horrible thing to read! I know I should not have read it. Many people like things like this, it makes them believe that humanity is good, etc., but this will haunt me for days. I hate things like this. I understand your good intentions in posting it but I should have known better than to read it. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, truly.

@dragon54u I usually avoid them, but I just had a feeling I needed to read it and it turned out to be something not that far from me.

He could 'really' be Santa as far as looks go! Yes, he is good man and I'm sure one day he will meet that little boy again.

I can not read it either because it will really upset me. God Bless this man for being there for that young boy and to be the one who held him as he slipped away. To a small child that would be what he wanted. I am already crying so I can not read the rest.

I saw this on the news this evening and I cried so much. The news crew played a previously taped phone interview with the gentleman and both of the news anchors were tearing up as much as my husband and I were. I think Santa handled the situation as well as could be imagined. Prayers for the little boy, his family and for Santa.

I read about this in the paper and saw it on the TV too, It was a bit creepy but I have to give that Santa credit to visit a dying child. He gave that child his last happy moment. If only we could all go that way...

@KristenH Once the parents have time to grasp it I think they will be happy with what Santa did.

Very sad, but the little boy seemed to understand, that's why he asked Santa to help him.

@AbbyGreenhill Sometimes, there are situations which are difficult to explain for an adult person. That's why we think that a small child won't be able to understand. But, even preserving the innocence, children sometimes understand more or better than an adult. Children are often more open minded than some adults, as we loose the innocence as we get older and create more limits...
