Coming Up to the Christmas Home Stretch!

Whew! Getting there is half the fun as long as you're not stressed and I'm surprisingly very relaxed this year for Christmas. Could be that I had an earlier start and am organized this time too! Matter of fact I worry that I am not getting more things ready- as I need to bake a few things ahead of time. I keep forgetting each day that it's getting very close to Christmas and I'd better get moving. The weather doesn't make it too attractive to go out for long and shop as it is below freezing with blowing wind. Got to finish off what I started so efficiently. Sometimes when you think you're ahead you ease off and suddenly get behind again.

@MarymargII 'Nicely stressed' sounds a bit oxymoronic but I know what you mean.

@JudyEv But that's because I am an oxy- moron haha! For me meaning- because I'm on it again. See my subtle use of italics-

Thats been my problem in the past- but this year it's not too bad- although I'm now getting nicely stressed for stocking stuffers for my granddaughter and some odds I left for the end.

Cruising. Not at all rushed. Everything is done and the final gifts were gotten this morning. Very cold here too. I don't know if I'm going to do any baking. If I do it will be when it's a little warmer outside since I need to get the ingredients for my fudge.

@MarymargII I will be making it, but I'm going to be using Stevia for sugar instead of regular sugar. Stevia is natural, has no calories, and tastes just like sugar. So this time the fudge will have a whole lot less calories than usual.

@just4him That sounds like a good idea- I know about Stevia and like it as a substitute! Great idea!

My mom made great fudge- creamy and tasty but she never left me the recipe- if you make it can you tell us what kind and what's in it?

I'm cruising, just doing things as I think of them. there are certain things that can't be done ahead of time anyway.

For the first Christmas in a long time, I am cruising instead of rushing! It's such a great feeling to not feel stressed during the holidays. I'm really kind of liking this feeling! Maybe I will start being organized and efficient every Christmas from now on!

I made a Nutella Christmas roll to take to a holiday party last weekend. I thought it was really good, so I might make a couple more, to take around..

Yep, we have just over a week! Right now I'm trying to think of the things that are school related because this is the last week before winter break. We had all kinds of holiday events - and I had to get gifts for the teacher, the aides, and some of the parents . . . and all of this should come to a close by end of Friday. I already know what to get the family, but I'm waiting til next week so the kids can come with me and they can get involved. I'm actually feeling quite on top of things this year !

Yes, I downsized a little and that made a time and monetary difference - not to mention the wear and tear on old mom! ha!

That's when you take a breath, make a few lists and go out each day and finish one! Then you will be in control again!

I try not to stress at this time of the year, its much more enjoyable a season if you don't. I am in a good place, although there are still a few things to be done, it isn't anything overwhelming or undoable in my books. We go out on Christmas day, so that cuts down on a lot of the stress of hosting, although I am all prepared with my hostess gifts, and will just hope that the weather stays good as we have a fairly long drive that day.

I am taking things in a relaxed mood this year. If I have no time to bake, I will skip what is not ready.

Me too- for baking- I bought an apple pie at a Church bazaar from a lady that makes the best pie yet- so that's good- and I will make a meat pie and perhaps a chocolate silk pie. My daughter is making cookies so that's great! I would like to make fudge too but we'll see- if I don't- I don't!

I'm not doing too bad ..., made easier by the fact that i'm a guest at someone elses home this year, so many of the normal preparations have been done by someone else.... so apart from to shared tasks ...so far its been very relaxing ....

That's the way Marlina! I'm doing that too- although I'm a little anxious as it closes in and I still need stocking stuffers and two gift certificates.

I did pretty good this Christmas only thing left is wrapping paper and stocking stuffers and hubby is in charge of that this year. I do wish Christmas would hurry up though only because Im really excited about some of the things the kids are getting. I've been so tempted to let them have one early, lol.

Now hold on as you don't have long- ha! It is exciting when you can't wait for a child to see their gift! Or anyone, for that matter.
