Got a Fancy-Ass Mouse Trap

December 16, 2016 9:45pm CST
I have caught a total of 5 mice on sticky traps just today. I wrote an earlier post this morning that showed 3 mice I caught on a sticky trap over night. It is now official. I have an infestation on my hands. As you may have also read on my posts, I am also deathly afraid of mice. I'm actually finding that I'm getting less and less timid about it as the day goes on, but my fiancé is still the one to take care of the trapped mice. Anyway, I went to Walmart earlier and bought a super fancy Catchmaster trap (see the pic), and set it up with sticky traps inside and peanut butter, so tomorrow, when my man is at work, I won't have to touch the icky things, but I will be able to see if it's working. Wish me luck!

These sticky traps sound a great idea. I'll have to look for them here although we seldom have mice in the house.

@mommymonky If mice were still alive inside when we got to the traps to inspect, we would simply shake the trap which stuns the mouse. Then extract them and manually dispatch them.

I recently rehomed my car because im moving. He only ever caught 2 mice in his life, and he left them dismembered on my furniture. It was gross.

Oh dear. I would hate this. I could not bear any kind of trap except if the trap is a cat. I have got used to that and am usually mouseless. I think maybe you need a professional exterminater or a cat would be cheaper.

Unfortunately, I gave my cat away about a week ago because we will be moving into an apartment soon that doesn't allow pets. The mice seem to know this, since they're out more, but I suspect that they were born somewhere in my house, because I have got 5 so far today and they all looked fairly young.

I don't know. Nothing's been caught yet. If I don't get any tonight, I will put out the sticky traps again. I put a whole bunch of peanut butter in there though, so I'm hopeful.

I am quite familiar with the trap pictured here. In the industry we often referred to them as tin cats. The way they work is of course the mouse goes into the opening which has a teetering pad that closes back up behind them so they cannot get out. They die from hypothermia as mice need to be in constant motion. We used them quite a lot in the industry and they worked great. BTW, good job on the peanut butter. That's the best for catching mice.
