A Pancake Disaster of Sorts

December 17, 2016 12:56am CST
When I work evenings, my 13 year old daughter is the one who normally cooks dinner for the family. I've been typically have her do the same several things: leftovers, frozen pizza, scrambled eggs, french toast, or pancakes. Occasionally, it's timed right where I can start dinner & leave it in the oven for them. Two nights ago, when I worked, I had my daughter cook pancakes for the family. She didn't pull out a cookbook for some reason. Instead, she asked her dad to remind her how many eggs she should use. I believe the recipe normally calls for 2. Well, my husband thought she was planning to make a big batch of FRENCH TOAST, not pancakes. French toast takes several more eggs. In fact, my husband told her 8. (which would be about 2-3 too many). So she put 8 eggs into the pancake batter. Needless to say, the pancakes didn't quite turn out as expected. Next time, I'll make sure she knows where to find the cookbook.

@jillybean1222 Hahaha, that's funny! Well, not for your poor daughter, but still. At least everyone knows not to use too many eggs when making pancakes!

I hope that she was not terribly embarrassed by the outcome.

i could barely fry an egg at that age. i remember halving a recipe, but probably an ingredient or two wrong because the muffins turned out big but hard.

Ha, to bad she was not making them for our family. We make a very large batch and it does take 8 eggs. So how did they turn out?

I think that we all have to make a disaster in the kitchen to learn the lesson to always follow the cookbook-I did!
