By now I'm sure everyone has heard the sorrowful news that actor and author Carrie Fisher died today (12/27), four days after suffering cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Did you know she has a couple of music connections? First, she was married to legendary singer Paul Simon for about a year from 1982-83. Simon's song "Hearts and Bones" was about their relationship. Then there's that classic music/comedy film The Blues Brothers. I haven't seen any of the obituaries today mention that she played the "Mystery Woman" in the film. She was Jake Blues' (John Belushi) ex-girlfriend, who was left at the altar and was trying repeatedly to kill him throughout the film. (If you haven't seen the movie, all of the violence in the film is Road Runner-type material.) Farewell to Carrie Fisher. Here's her great Blues Brothers scene in the tunnel, getting ready to kill Jake and Elwood.

I didn't know that. I am not a Woody Allen fan. The only movie of his I like is a generally forgotten one, Zelig.
