DNA... The Process Has Begun

We are going into Winnipeg tomorrow and everything is a go for my DNA test. Just finished lunch and I have to wait 30 minutes without eating or drinking anything. That shouldn't be a problem because I shall be busy until 3 pm when we all stop for a snack and a little family time. That is when this will get done.
Even though I have read the instructions a zillion times, I'm still nervous about making a mistake. As of this time, I have activated the test, which only means that I have registered the fact that I am participating. Later today I will actually do the "spitting in the tube part" which sounds kind of gross I know, but all steam ahead. I will then seal it up and put it into the little box that came with the kit and drop it off at the first post office I find.
And then I sit back and wait... and wait... and wait until someone gets back to me.
Stay tuned... I will let you know the second I hear anything. I really hope that it doesn't take the entire 8 weeks!! I shall go crazy!!!

How very interesting, I will love to hear your results, although I must admit I'm not sure what kind of results they will give you. Do you know?

Hubby expects that they will just tell me what I already know, but I am into collecting long lost cousins and if they don't find anything that I don't already know... I'm good with that. But, surprises area always fun!!

I've wanted to do that too, I'd like to know which native American tribe I may have a connection to.

That is so exciting! I read your previous post but didn't have time to comment. I can't wait to find out what your ancestry is! I have heard of people who show traits not known in their family from a recessive gene from long, long ago that suddenly decides to show itself. This should be very interesting.

That is exactly what I am hoping for. Mom said that when she first saw me, she thought that she had been given the wrong baby. She said that I looked Chinese! Lol... I think that she simply wasn't expecting a baby with so much black hair... but it would be fun to find that I did have some Chinese ancestry. Now THAT would be a big surprise lol!

Exciting! Mine took about five weeks I think. It surprised me with an Irish link {of 16%} for which I have no explanation, so for me it just added a new mystery. The spitting bit took me AGES!

lol... It won't be long now before I have to do that part lol... I didn't think that part would be the hard part... I will let you know!! I'm really excited about the surprises. I have British on both sides, and then French lines, and some Irish. I have been working on it for years... can't wait to see what they find that I don't know about... but even some new cousins would be fun!!

I've read that you've now managed the spitting bit. I think we'll all be on tenterhooks waiting to hear what transpires.

I am pretty sure that they will find a large British percentage, but on the other hand, what ancestors haven't I found who could come into play. That is where it gets interesting.
