Debbie Reynolds Dies

I just read this online a few hours ago and was so shocked. Debbie Reynolds dies one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher, died. The article stated that she was at her son's home making preparations for Carrie's funeral when around 1pm she started having trouble breathing. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she later died from a stroke. This is so very sad to me. I'm sure the death of her daughter was just too much for her to handle at her age. Now her son has to bury both his sister and his mother. That has to be so hard for him. With all the celebrity deaths lately, it makes me afraid to see what tomorrow will hold. First George Michael on the 25th, Carrie Fisher on the 27th and now Debbie Reynolds on the 28th. That doesn't count all of the other celebrities who have died this year. Debbie Reynolds was a great entertainer, actress and singer. I grew up watching her movies like Singing in the Rain and Tammy. It saddens my heart that she was taken from us. RIP Debbie.

that is so terrible that she had to face so much at last, it killed her. she was always such a pure looking girl next door type. my biggest memory is how sad everyone was that Liz stole Eddie, Carrie's father from her.

@bunnybon7 Lol...that is too funny! My grandmother had a beauty salon when I was young and I would spend all my free time with her there. She had a lot of magazines and I loved reading them as they were all about celebrities.

I barely remember reading about the affair but I was young and didn't really understand it until I got older.

It is very sad isn't it? Tammy was a great film from my teenage years.

I saw a photo of her in Facebook this morning and she was wearing a lovely dress with a kind of fur like they used to wear at that time. She looked stunning and for a moment it was really hard to believe that she had gone too.

@simone10 Now they are together at least and no more suffering either. A famous Wife of a Spanish Flamenco Singer is now with her Husband she passed over yesterday. It left me a bit sad as he was so well loved and she was yet no one hardly mentioned it at all.

@simone10 Surprised me as I thought they would make a big song and dance about it but they did not. Seems you are only in the News when it suits them. She was good Woman and did a lot of good work surely that should count for something too.

I agree, it does seem hard to believe that she is gone. But, I think she is now where she wants to be, with Carrie.

I agree that Debbie Reynolds was a great actress and singer, I like her a lot more than her daughter. Let's hope not to see other famous people die before the end of the year.

@simone10 Surely Debbie Reynolds did not survive due to the pain to see her daughter die.

I loved all of her movies too, especially the Tammy movies. She always played characters who had a lot of spunk and I have heard that she was that way in real life.

@just4him I have always liked her too and it seemed like after she got to a certain age, she never seemed to age anymore. She looked young to be in her 80's.

Debbie was the last great star from Hollywood's Golden Age and now that era has closed completely.

Although I heard about this sad news, your discussion gave me goosebumps again. My parents loved her, especially when she was with Eddie Fisher. Such sadness!

@DianneN I watched a special about Debbie and Carrie on TV and he was talking about it. He really didn't seem very upset. He said that Debbie said that she wanted to be with Carrie and 15 minutes later, she started having a stroke. He talked very lovingly about both his Mom and sister and their relationship. I think he is at peace because he knew that Debbie was where she wanted to be.

I can't imagine how they all must feel. It's bad enough to lose one family member but two within a day of each other has to be so tragic for them.
