I will be putting up a diary once a week. This will be where I list fitness with goals, weight loss, and anything that affects the ability to work out like illness. This is the goal I listed in December and my local friends all suggested just 1 goal when its going to be this hard to achieve. I have gone up and down for years losing lots of pounds, then putting them back on over time.

I did not start a diet and I do not exercise, only walk, but I have cut on some foods the last month of August and I have lost 9 pounds, more than I really wanted or needed, but it's okay.

Walking is a good way to see the neighborhood. Wow, 9 pounds is a lot of weight and I'm hoping by the end of 2017 to say goodbye to 15 pounds. My goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a month and keep them off. I know the holidays and vacation time will be the biggest challenge, as the temptations will be big. I lost these 15 pounds back in 2009, then family loss and eating happened and now its time to say goodbye to the pounds.

@LadyDuck I think that is the way to lose weight. I'm going to work harder at portion control avoiding foods that have calories that leave me feeling hungry like bread and sweets. My house eats lean meat, as that is all I have purchased for many years. I grow quite a few vegetables year round. My daughter thinks I should add more vegetables to our meals, so am going to look for more vegetable recipes this week.

@Fishmomma I wanted to lose 6 pounds, I skipped some foods and finally I got the habit not to eat bread, sweets and only to eat lean meats and vegetables, so I continued to lose weight.

I feel like there are not enough hours in a day to achieve more than one goal. I set out to exercise and was on the treadmill for an hour a day. With life and family there was no time in there to fit working on my novel, my other goal. Still, I have the same two goals this year. It's hard with illness though because I have chronic fatigue and chronic pain. Sometimes I just feel too tired to look at my novel.

This goal is going to be the hardest, as I have always eaten when I'm in pain or under a lot of stress. My neighbors are going to help me, as I have stayed home so much that its time to get out and see a lot of the neighborhood. One thing I haven't mentioned is the new glasses have improved my eyes so much that I can for the first time in my adult life see 20-20 in one eye. I stayed home because it was hard to see and wouldn't go out unless somebody could go with me. Asking for help really is hard.

@Fishmomma Yes, it is very hard to ask people for help, especially those outside your family.

that is a wonderful idea. I need to work on fitness as well. I want to walk more to get myself into it. I did lose a lot of weight and I fear it will come back. I have gained 10 lbs back so I am panicking. Your diary may be what I need to keep me motivated seeing someone else putting in the time.

I felt it was time to improve my health, as my back is bothering me. Several of my neighbors are out walking and I'm going to join them. This way I will stick to the walking, as somebody knocking on my door will get me on the right path.
