Hubby brought the van into the shop today.
He knew the wheel bearing was bad.. but one day last week a bunch of sensors went off for no reason, then they turned off and I haven't seen them again since.. but they had me worried.
The wheel bearing was going to cost us $350... but with the sensors going off hubby thought maybe there was something else going on.
So he brought it to the dealership where the car is under warranty.
They were able to fix the sensor problem and the wheel bearing and only charged us the deductible of $100!
Had it only been the wheel bearing that wouldn't have been covered under warranty..
I'm pretty happy that worked out..

@katsmeow1213 Luckily you had that warranty + other problems besides the bearing!

Not really... I didn't have the money to spend in the first place, so it was just less I had to come up with.

Yes, the warranty won't last much longer as I've put a lot of miles on this van.

My husband won't try to do it himself. Some minor things he can do, or was at least taught at one point.. but he doesn't fully trust himself. For most repairs he has a friend who owns a shop and they treat us well... but to get things covered under warranty we have to bring it back to the dealer.

@katsmeow1213 Yes, there is only some things that it is safe to tackle by yourself.

Yes they can. I've been lucky thus far with my van that I haven't had any major problems not covered under warranty. Knock on wood.

If it hadn't been covered under warranty it probably would have had to wait until tax time!

@much2say we didn't think twice about getting it for both of our vehicles, and it has come in handy for sure!

@katsmeow1213 Oh yah, thank goodness for that warranty! Such a hard call deciding whether or not to get that warranty . . . when stuff like this happens, it's totally worth it.

In my case it was lucky. If the sensors didn't go off it would have just been the wheel bearing which wasn't covered under warranty.

It's such a relief to have a car fixed - but also for it to not cost an entire arm and a leg. I'm glad that worked out for you too!!
